Kathy’s 4-star review:
Valdari earns 4 stars relative to the Italian offerings in the Bell Blvd/Bayside area, and due to a nice menu, generous portion size and real wood fired pizza.
We stepped in for a quick dinner of pizza and beer. There was a nice neighborhood vibe, the place was about 2/3 full on a Thursday, wait staff welcoming, and on their toes. Above all we observed other diners, relaxed smiles on their faces, laughing and enjoying their meals and their experience. The atmosphere was friendly, we were well attended to. They have a full bar, were pleased to find several beers on tap. Our pizzas: Quattro Stagioni, Sausage and Broccoli - came out quickly, hot and puffy, slightly charred, with a good bite and the right amount, if not generous toppings. On a prior visit we were somewhat less impressed with the pizza, but came back. This time their pizzaiolo was on point. We ordered 2 more pies to go, and our sharp, thoughtful server brought us the check timed perfectly so we'd be ready to leave as soon as our pizza was boxed. Right now Valdari is a win, with very good brick oven pizza in Bayside. No need for the hike to Manhattan.
