Tiffany’s 3-star review: With having such an amazing experience recently, I wanted to bring my boyfriend and his mom here to experience. While they enjoyed the food, the lack of air-conditioning during this heat wave of 100 degrees with humidity, really ruined the experience. To eat hot food, when it feels 100 degrees in the restaurant was unbearable. To barely move, and sweat while sitting and trying to enjoy a meal, was unacceptable. It made us rush through the meal and we almost left halfway through to be very honest. Last time - it took my party about 2 hours to eat because we were truly enjoying ourselves, chatting, savoring every course. This time, we rushed through everything and did not enjoy ourselves. When we asked about the AC - the server did profusely apologize and said he doesn't know what's wrong with the AC. It was blowing air.. but barely. We sat right next to a vent and couldn't feel anything. A party of 4 also walked in mid way through our meal, they sat down for about 40 seconds and immediately walked out and told the server that it was too hot inside. I hope they fix the AC because the food itself was great - but the heat truly ruined their experience and I wouldn't be surprised if they recommend against the restaurant to others based on their first visit.

Tiffany’s 4-star review: Suraya has been my favorite brunch spot for years, but just a few updates since my last review. Currently, for brunch they only offer the tasting menu at $37 pp (see photo). The portions also seemed to be slightly smaller (see photo in review). Previously, all the shared "on the table" items were served in individual bowls/plates. Now, they are all placed on one small plate. I can definitely recommend the branzino for brunch - both times I've gotten it have been perfectly cooked, and love the red pepper sauce that it is served with. I really hope one day they go back to the previous menu or add some of the previous dishes, I really miss the man'oushes. Overall still a great spot to go to, but the price/value has decreased ever so slightly in my book - which I understand may be related to covid/staffing and inflation -
Tiffany’s 5-star review: Wow.. my first 5 star rated review?? To be honest, I sat here for a good 5 minutes deciding between a 4 or a 5. Reasons? Food/service/taste: ALL 5 stars! Service - don't be turned off by the long line that wraps around the whole restaurant. They are extremely efficient in whatever system they are using. Normally, the guy will go around taking all your orders as you stand in line. So by the time you get to the cash register, you're ready to go! Food/taste: yesterday was probably my 3rd or 4th time there and I am never disappointed. First three times I Just couldn't stay away from the roast pork with sharp provolone and spinach greens yum. Sandwich is something like $8.25 and each topping is 75 cents if I remember correctly. Anyway the roast pork, um YUM. That's all I can say. Just had it yesterday, and writing about it makes me want to have it again! The pork is just so gently roasted, has time to rest.. so it's just extremely juicy. The guy making your sandwiches pours even MORE juice on it prior to serving it to you. Fabulous idea, guy mcgee :) The provolone just makes it that much more.. decadent if I can use that word for a simple sandwich shop. And the greens, are never dry just a nice delicious addition to an already perfect sandwich. Yesterday, my best friend and I decided to try their Italian Pulled Pork Sandwich with our usual: provolone + spinach greens. Again, DELICIOUS. My best friend said it's probably her favorite even beyond the initial roast pork. Imo, it was GREAT but I can't be too quick to judge yet. I think I'll have to have a roast pork soon.. just so I can compare. It had been months since the roast pork. Omg yum. But same deal. When you bite into it, juices just flow.. it's a messy sandwich but they're nice and give you a fork. So we try to eat some of the meat and veggies off too make it smaller, so it can actually fit in our mouths haha. We also tried the sandwich with the horseradish they have on the bars, and it complimented the sandwich quite well. So WHY did i even consider giving it 4 stars? Well, the price. It's not a cheap sandwich! It's about 9 dollars after all the toppings and whatnot. However, it's a nice big sandwich in my opinion. My best friend and I always have to split a sandwich, for us.. it's totally worth the $4.50 between the two of us! It's sooo delicious. And honestly, I gave the $9 sandwich a 5 star rating because I don't want to penalize them for my broke butt. There is nothing wrong with them.. the taste is spot on, always. Their service is always efficient and with such busy lines.. I never see a frown on their faces, still fast friendly and efficient. And OMG their sandwiches.... so therefore, even though they're a bit steep for sandwiches, SO WORTH IT. Please try it if you haven't before. Like seriously... -
Tiffany’s 5-star review: Wow. How did I deprive myself of this place for the last 6 years I've lived here? Yes. I've lived in PHiladelphia for starting 7 years now.. and WHAT? How have I never been here. It's like the other Yelpers say, a great mesh of culture. I love this place. First of all, you can get GREAT produce for great prices. 5 lbs of potatoes for $2. I had to ask the lady for $1 worth, because what are my bf and I going to do between the two of us with 5 lbs of potatoes?! $1 for 2 eggplants, $2 pineapples, $1 for 3 punches of broccoli and $2 for 3 bunches of asparagus. I'm in produce heaven! We were in a bit of a rush today so I didn't get to spend as much time as I wanted. But I also went to that Italian pasta store, and bought gnocchi (MY FAVORITE) .. gonna try it out tomorrow! I'll be back for way more. That tortilleria place, more produce, seafood and maybe buy a few strawberry or herb potted plants :) It's fabulous. South Philly is really a mesh of culture. Mexican food, Vietnamese food, and Italian. The best. I love this place. I'm in food heaven!! -
Tiffany’s 4-star review: Today we tried Creamy Plum with lavender honey and Drunken Plum Both were good! It really tasted like there was alcohol in the drunken plum! Nom nom But also to note we saw an episode of Bobby Flay's throwdown and it looks exactly like the idea from Las Palentas in Tennessee $3 pops too, episode was from 2008. Interesting... -
Tiffany’s 4-star review: GOOD BEER, good mussels. Their choices for beer are endless :) I'm a fan. dogfish head 60 minute IPA $5. Their other beers range to more.. but they're good selections. I'm a big fan of delirium. Mussels - best deal in town. $10 for small pot? Come on now, hell yeah. I've gotten the Provence and Brussels, and I intend to try the Ghent ones next time. They're kind of small (which is why this is NOT a 5 star) but they're flavored simply, but delicious and it is a generous portion. Service is standard and good. Big fan. Will be back -
Tiffany’s 3-star review: This is one of those places that I had high hopes, especially from reading all the rave reviews, but left feeling only satisfied. Service: Great -- 4 to 5 stars. We sat at the bar, and the bartender was extremely knowledgable about not only the drink menu, but also what food they had to offer for Restaurant Week. He explained the menu very well, and it was clear he knew what he was talking about. Ambiance: great, 4-5 stars. I like the open kitchen look, the dim lighting and the open space of the restaurant. Food - Good, but not extraordinary. 3 stars - Hummus + small plates of beets, egg plant, kale salad, spicy green beans. My favorites were probably the spicy green beens and kale salad. -Fried cauliflower: pretty good, it was lightly fried with just the right amount of seasoning.. but I'm just not seeing the 5 star OMG quality - Haloumi cheese: while great in its richness, I didn't see any huge transformation of the product into its final place on the plate. Maybe I'm biased, or maybe it's because I've actually had better haloumi cheese at Cava mezze in Rockville, MD - Duck hearts: my first time so I am by no means an expert. I think it was cooked as it should have been, a little medium/rare in the middle. The sauce was good, and the onion rings were much needed for the fact that I was eating a HEART. Wouldn't order it again, but that's just personal preference. A bit too blood tasting for my likes - Moroccan chicken with poached egg: one of my favorites for the night. The spices were great, the chicken was tender not dry, and I appreciate a perfectly executed egg - Roasted Zucchini - just OK - Grilled baby potatoes with ground lamb: apparently not memorable, bc I had to look up the menu to remember what I got - Konafi: interesting, and pretty good. I liked the contrast of the cold labaneh ice cream (yogurt) on top of the warm bread like pastry. - Rugelach: was just OK in my opinion. Hazelnut praline sounded delicious; it was warm when it came out, but i guess I was expecting something less dry, a little lighter/ more refined? Maybe a personal thing. Overall, I was unfortunately unimpressed, and not sure that I would return. If a friend wanted to go, I'd probably go give em another shot try a few other small plates, but I wouldn't go back there on my own reservation -
Tiffany’s 4-star review: This place is really cool. I'm all about video games.. and I used to play half these games on old school 1984 NES system. Omg I'm getting chills thinking about it... 25 cent games in the year 2013? yes fucking please! I played the SHIT out of Joust, Donkey Kong, .. some awesome game that is JUST like streets of rage on sega, and the original super mario brothers. I almost cried. I woulda played more, they had TRON too. But I was getting motion sickness... not bc they're systems are bad. Probably because I'm getting old.. :( But I'm in love with this concept. Good beer on draft + friendly personel + 25 CENT VIDEO GAMES = I am happy I will be back for sureee

Tiffany’s 4-star review: I am a FAN FAN FAN! I love that this is pretty much in the middle of southwest Philly. Right next to the Bartrams projects. This is the shit I love about philly. You're in the middle of nowhere, and you find something so special, and so beautiful. Something to take you away from all the drugs, gunshots, violence and dirtyness everyone says about " Filthadelphia". It's a gorgeous walk. It's so confusing at first! We parked and we were like.. where do we go?? We just walked towards the back towards the trees, and walked through the woods. It was so peaceful, so much green.. so much nature happiness. If you're having a bad day, go. If you're having a good day, GO. Take a look at my photos for a taste, but seriously, you have to go to really experience it!! -
Tiffany’s 4-star review: Oh man! I've lived in Philly for 7 years.. and I gotta say -- I think they beat Pat's. They definitely beat Geno's. It's been a minute since I've had Pat's.. but when I bit into my whiz wit cheesesteak on Saturday -- my god was it JUICY, hot and whizzy delicious :) I also saw the beef they put on to cook, and it's fresh as fack. That's what it's all about. GOOD FRESH rolls, fresh meat, fried onions, a bit of whiz = happy Philly girl -
Tiffany’s 4-star review: Aiyiyi half of me wishes I never stumbled upon these sandwiches. The half of me that hopes not to get ridiculously fat and poor at the same time. Including taxes, these sandwiches add up to $11.75 or $11.25 I can't remember. I've gotten their Reuben with corned beef one time, and their pastrami another time. And I gotta say, my favorite is the corned beef. They're not shy, they load it up. You will not leave hungry. Actually, I can only barely eat half a sandwich in one sitting.. so each " meal" ends up only costing me about $6 which I'll deem reasonable. The corned beef is so tender. it just falls apart. It's not too salty, which is something I don't like about corned beef. I love the Russian dressing and the veggies it comes with. It's a messy sandwich, so make sure you get some napkins! A note on the pastrami: this might be your thing if you're into heavier, meatier sandwiches. The corned beef kinda melts in your melt, just falls apart. The pastrami is like eating and chewing tiny slices if steak. Which hey, might be your cup of tea It's places like this.. and food like this.. that I'll never be able to go vegetarian.. or save any money . Lesigh. But a yummy, lesigh. -
Tiffany’s 4-star review: There are so many reasons to fall in love with Philly, and this is one of them. It's cold out, but you still want to have some fun right? So go down to the Waterfront -- there's some fun arcade games (Claw , air hockey , skeeball) for the kiddies and kiddo-s at heart alike. Ice skating for families, friends and lovers. Head over to the lodge for hot chocolate , or spiked with Baileys, or my winter favorite.. hot cider with Jameson and warm your heart's desire. Hungry? $5 pretzel with cheese sauce, or go over to Distrito truck for 2 tacos for $7. Sweet tooth? Get some smores material and head over to the fire pits and warm up and socialize with your friends or with strangers. Regardless of how you decide to spend your night there, get there. Less than 2 weeks left!! -
Tiffany’s 4-star review: The Lodge is fun. This is where you can sit down and hang out , grab those beers, spiked hot chocolates or Cider & Whiskeys. They have jenga for you to play, a curling table. I really like their couch set ups -- it's really homey. They even have blankets for you to completely lounge out and hang out with your friends. The cons -- the hockey tables are broken, both of them. IMO, either fix them or remove them -- they're useless. The menu is pretty delicious sounding -- but a bit harder for someone that has stopped eating beef and pork. They do have a black bean burger but I wish there were more options. Overall, cool place to hang out -
Tiffany’s 4-star review: Wow I can't believe it took me 9 years of living in Philly to get here. It's definitely worth seeing. Isaiah has a really interesting type of art style. I recommend getting the Groupon if available for $30 for a group of 4, and you get 2 photo booklets for the group. Their admission is usually $10 for adults, and this includes a tour. Our tour guide was very knowledgable and gave us good info on his art style, history and how he forms his mosaic pieces. The tour consists of walking around the South Street neighborhood and explaining the pieces throughout. It's quite the gem in Philly, definitely worth the trip. Then go out and get food on South street -- great for both locals and tourists alike. -
Tiffany’s 4-star review: We stumbled across this spot while walking through the neighborhood the other day for my friends birthday and I'm so excited for this find! There are such a wide array of selections of cigars -- I know we got one chocolate mint, and another more " traditional" tasting one. I wish I got his name, but the employee was very nice and he helped us pick our cigar choices and directed us to the closest place to grab some booze as it is a BYOB cigar lounge.. yes you heard me right! They also have hookah, so I'm interested to check that out next time as well. The basement/downstairs is the best! There's a TV, boombox to hook up to your phone for your personalized music, and a bunch of couches/chairs to chill at. It honestly feels like you're chilling in your own house/apartment. All of the employees there were very friendly, continuously checking on us and making sure we were alright with our drinks and cigars. Definitely worth checking out! -
Tiffany’s 4-star review: Finally had the chance to check this spot out. We opted to get slices instead of fresh pies since we were in a hurry. The slices are pretty big, 1 is enough if you're not starving and 2 will probably get you more than full even if you're starving. All the pies have cute names. I tried the Felix which has gruyere, mozzarella, carmelized onions, and garlic. Great pizza, the dough is a killer texture. My only complaint about this one was that it was quite oily/greasy. I also had the Gail which is mozzarella, feta, kale, portabella and red onion. I must say I really like all their topping combintations, right up my alley. I am going to go back to try out the Queenie :) -
Tiffany’s 4-star review: Solid. I can't speak for the cheesesteaks since I no longer eat beef, but my friend seemed to love his -- he enjoyed it more than other cheesesteaks he's had in Philly ( I can't remember if I took him to Steve's or what last time, possibly ishkabibbles ) My chicken cheesesteak was so good -- fresh cut pieces of chicken, fresh bread roll, good old cheese whiz, no complaints. I'd definitely get another here. I also got a root beer float which was delicious. Overall, a solid lunch -
Tiffany’s 4-star review: This is one of those loves, that will never fade with time.. until I get diabetes and die. Reading Terminal, you are superfluous with food galore! The only downside I've ever experienced are the ridiculous crowds of tourists, and the feeling of being overwhelmed because there is SO MUCH FOOD, so many options! My favorites include the classic Roast Pork with provolone and broccoli rabe at Dinics, and the Salmon lunch special at Little Thai restuarant. my suggestion: GO WITH AN EMPTY STOMACH, full wallet (cash only at a lot of spots), and just wander up and down the aisels. Try what you want, walk by what you don't. You will leave extremely happy, full, and probably waddling like a penguin :) ALSO they have yellow watermelon in the summer... TRY IT. or don't. leave more for meeeee -

Tiffany’s 4-star review: I was excited to see this new sandwich shop opening downtown, conveniently located near 18th and Chestnut / Rittenhouse and my first visit did not disappoint! I'm one of those freaks, that look at the menu and know what I'm getting before I even get there. So today, I opted to try the Chicken Italiano. First off THANK YOU for providing non-red meat options and ALSO vegetarian options, so awesome! I wanted the chicken italiano because it's grilled fresh chicken + spinach + provolone + roasted red pepper -- and you know what that sounds like? YES. It sounds like Tommy Dinic's roast pork sandwich that I sadly do not eat cute piggies anymore but this totally hit the spot. The grilled chicken was perfect, fresh, well seasoned, not dry but perfect little cubes among fried onions, provolone, garlicy spinach on a seeded or non seeded roll of your choice. Price? Sandwich will knock you back $11 including tax but that's roughly how much your average cheesesteak or roast pork sandwich costs, and it's pretty massive. I made two meals out of it -- although if you're starving this will be one perfectly stuffed meal for you. Lots of customization options too. I'm 100% looking forward to returning and trying a chicken cheesesteak and see how it fairs. TIP: THERE IS BEER. And I know I saw Troegs for $3 and another doublebock for $3ish.. I think I found a new spot guys. Why no 5 star? Oh, just waiting for me to return to try more things and if they match my first experience, hell yes this is a 5 star!! -
Tiffany’s 5-star review: I am offended by myself, that living in Philadelphia for 12 years I had not visited, or even known about this place! My friend introduced me to it and we visited around 10am in the morning, mind their hours. I'm telling you, the aroma alone when you walk in will make you fall in love. But the freshness of a freshly baked pretzel, and to eat it when it's warm and fresh there's nothing like it. I can't tell you how many times I made unspeakable questionable noises while ingesting my first, but certainly not my last from CCP. Don't be like me, don't live in Philly or visit without eating a pretzel from here -- it's the real deal. -
Tiffany’s 4-star review: Every year when my brother in law and sister visit, I take them to a new cheesesteak spot. After living in the city for 12+ years I have my list of favorites but still enjoy trying those old, tried and trues. To mention - my favorites spots include Cleaver's, D'alessandros, Joe's and Ishkabibbles.. and also probably worth mentioning I stopped eating beef/pork a few years ago... BLASPHEMY! I know right? Well I cheated on my diet, clearly, to try John's out. To those that reviewed and said it's ever better than Dinic's - I gotta say... I'm not sure about that. I think they're exactly equal, delicious juicy pork with sharp provolone and some greens; you might feel different if you feel a certain way about broccoli rabe vs spinach though The beef cheesesteak with American and fried onions was very good, my bro in law even said that American cheese may have won his heart over whiz! Overall I'd definitely recommend this as a spot to visit if you're looking for authentic Philly Cheesesteak/Roast pork sandwich. It's so south Philly and the sandwiches are worth the wait.
