Andrea’s 5-star review: This clinic is a pristinely clean and very professional setting. They offer online appointment booking and direct billing to your insurance company, which takes the hassle out of booking and making claims. I've seen both Danita for RMT and Dr. Robin for chiropractic a few times now, and have been completely satisfied each time. I'd definitely recommend this clinic to others. -
Andrea’s 5-star review: Take me out to the ball game! I recently visited Nat Bailey for the first time and it was SO MUCH FUN. Mind you I don't know the first thing about baseball, except for maybe three strikes and you're out, but still a great time for $12. Okay, maybe a bit more than $12 once you throw in a 2 foot long hotdog and a couple of beers, but still really reasonable. Every baseball player has their own song that plays when they go up to bat, so you can have a little mini dance party in the stands and the groundskeepers do a little dance performance around half way through the game. And then there's the 7th inning stretch where everyone sings take me out to the ball game followed by the chicken dance. I was lucky enough to visit on a fireworks night which was pretty spectacular given the size of the venue. Plus the fireworks were coordinated to a Phil Collins, Dirty Dancing, and early 00's rap medley - WIN! As for the baseball team, I get the impression that they're pretty average (the score was 2 - 0 the night I went and not a whole lot of balls were being hit), but hey, it's all about the full experience! -
Andrea’s 4-star review: I never visited the original Zipang, so I can't really compare this new incarnation to what it was before. That being said, I really enjoyed myself here. It is a spacious location (you won't be sitting on your fellow diner's laps - yay!), with attractive wood, rope, and brick details. Service was attentive, even on a busy Saturday night. They have a nice selection of beer and cocktails in the $5-7 range, which I found quite reasonable. I sampled a selection of their specialty sushi rolls, tuna tataki, sablefish, and a bacon and tofu salad. The fish was fresh, and overall everything was very good. The only miss was the Taiyaki dessert (those little fish shaped deep-fried filled pastries), which tasted a little too much like what was in the deep-fryer before it - the yuzu ice cream that accompanied it was delicious though! Food prices were totally affordable - dinner including drinks, dessert, and leftovers for lunch the next day ran me about $25-$30. Overall, an great spot that is on trend, without relying on gimmicks to overcompensate for its food (ahem... unlike it's competition across the street). -
Andrea’s 4-star review: Loved this place! Was walking down Main and decided to stop in for lunch. Shared the 2 piece cod and chips and took home a mason jar of both of their chowder's to go. Fish and chips were great - lightly battered and fresh, served with a little side of tasty slaw. The chowders (my lunch for the next 2 days) were also quite tasty. They have a dairy-free one that I think is supposed to resemble a New England, and a Manhattan as well. I personally preferred the New England, but my SO was partial to the Manhattan, I can safely say they were both good! Despite the great food I had to nix a star for their seating area. There are a couple of benches, some awkwardly positioned under the food pick up station, and a tiny bar table that might fit 4. It was very awkward to try to eat on the bench (which I practically had to fight to get a seat on!), and I noticed some fellow patrons struggling to balance their bouillabaisse. On a nice day I'd be happy to take my meal outside but (like most days in Vancouver) it was pouring. Another gripe (and this is probably just me being crazy) is that they use wood utensils. So great to see they're using an environmentally friendly product BUT I find putting a dry piece of wood in my mouth totally unappealing... like licking a popsicle stick. Ick. Please tell me I'm not the only one... -
Andrea’s 4-star review: Clean space, adorable decor, fantastic service, good food. My date and I opted for some samosas, the beef chettinand, the sambar dahl, and some raitha. The samosas were really good - flavourful, not greasy, mild on the spiciness. I would definitely come back just to try the samosa chaat. The beef chettinand also had a really nice flavour. Admittedly I was not a fan of the sambar dahl (my date's pick), but I don't really like lentils to begin with, so don't take my word for it. The raitha rounded out the meal nicely. What more could I ask for? Actually some naan would be a great addition to the menu! I agree with the other reviewers that the prices are a bit high, however I can appreciate that they use all organic, non-GMO, not going to kill you slowly ingredients. The meals were also a decent size - with the samosa appetizer we were only able to finish about half of our mains, so had a good-sized portion left over for lunch the next day. I'm interested in trying the fish curry and the veggie korma, so I'll be back. -
Andrea’s 4-star review: This is my new favourite bar in Vancouver. It's Twin Peaks themed and has a bathroom not to be missed (just go, you'll see). It is also "cosy", so you'll have to leave your entourage at home. They have a good drink list, and a nice selection of beers on tap. Also, they serve up some pretty delicious vegetarian campfire themed meals. The B.A.L.T. sandwich was good, and the poutine was not to be missed. I only wish I lived a bit closer... -
Andrea’s 5-star review: YUM!!! Cute little pint jars of ice cream made with natural ingredients and love. $10 a pop, but you get $1 back if you return the jar. I always pick up a pint when I see them at the Nat Bailey Winter Farmer's Market. The Ginger ice cream is amazing, and I would also recommend the Whiskey Hazelnut. Mmmm. The only flavour I have not been a fan of was the Coconut Kefir Lime. Can't wait until the day when they are not sold out of Salted Caramel so I can finally give their claim to fame a try! -
Andrea’s 4-star review: Excellent delivery pizza! I ordered a large Roma and a large Oro Verde to share with 4 friends. Pizza arrived within an hour as promised and the delivery guy (I got the impression he may have been one of the owners) was the nicest and politest that I've ever encountered. Pizza's were awesome, with the Oro Verde (featuring brie and truffle essence) being a stand out favourite for everyone. Including tax and tip the 2 large pizza order came to ~$50, which is more than your average delivery pizza but the quality was superior to most. Pizzas were generously sized and filling - we had an entire large pizza leftover for lunch (and dinner) the next day. This will be my new go-to pizza delivery place. -
Andrea’s 5-star review: I consider myself spoiled because Jenny lives in my apartment building and often has her goodies for sale in the lobby. Who can say no to a cupcake after a long day at work??? I've tried quite a few - all of which were decorated to perfection - and my faves are definitely the lemon-blackberry and the PB&J (which I never thought I would like, go figure). Last Easter I purchased some of her adorable chick cake pops for my family and they were a huge hit. I also recently sampled some of her cronuts (my first cronut!) which were delicious as well. Highly recommended! -
Andrea’s 5-star review: 3 months have passed, and I've now been to Meet no less than 6 times. Over this time I've noticed a significant improvement in the quality of the food. I still highly recommend the Sweet Chili Cauliflower and Hot Chiggin' Things, but I will add The Amsterdam (veggie "meatballs" with sauerkraut), Portobello Burger, and Steamed Kale with Cashew Gravy to my "must try" list. I gave the french fries a second shot after my first (disappointing) experience, and I can say they are much much better now! Such a wonderful restaurant to have in my neighborhood! -
Andrea’s 5-star review: After my first positive experience with a sanitary trim here, I brought my cat back in for a full groom. At my request they were able to cut her to look like a short haired cat instead of the typical lion cut. It was the best looking cut she's ever had. At $70 + tax and tip it's also the cheapest cut she has had so I was satisfied all around. Surprisingly when I came to pick her up after her cut she was totally calm, so the groomers had obviously put her at ease. There is no longer fur all over my furniture and no more hairballs - I'll definitely keep bringing her back! -
Andrea’s 4-star review: Great spot for brunch! I had the Crab Benny (it was a daily special and I think it was around $14) and my brunch date had the berry crepes. We also had some bellinis from their "brunch bubbles" menui ($7). Food was fabulous, drinks were great, prices were reasonable, considering the setting. Server was also super attentive. I had been scared to try this place for dinner based on a couple of negative Yelp reviews, but I think I'll be back to give it a try! -
Andrea’s 4-star review: I was treated to my 30th birthday dinner here, after longing to try this place for quite some time. I had heard many friends rave about the place so I had quite high expectations. We opted for a 1/2 litre of rose (which was quite reasonable at $24) and a pork belly appetizer to start. I chose the duck breast as a main while my date had the sole. While the pork belly and duck breast were very good, I was not blown away by either (remember I came in with very HIGH expectations) and my date's sole was quite unremarkable. We finished our meal with an excellent creme brûlée. Throughout the evening the service was fantastic. Definitely a cute place for a date, and they have a 3 course dinner menu for 2 that includes soup or salad, steak frites or grilled chicken, dessert, and a bottle of wine for a $99 that seemed like a great deal - although there is no way I would be able to finish 3 courses on my own because the portions are quite large. Overall, I'm glad I went and I would go back if it was someone else's suggestion. However, I have had much tastier meals at both Grub and Les Faux Bourgeois. -
Andrea’s 4-star review: Yum! Their "Roman style" pizza is better than some of the pizza I had in Rome! On my first visit I split a cold 7-inch Caprese (tomato, bocconcini, salad) pizza and a warm 7-inch Trastevere (pancetta, mozzarella, pecorino) with my date. All the ingredients tasted very fresh and the pizza was super flavourful. The 2 pizzas with 2 San Pellegrino's came to about $20 - pretty cheap dinner for two! I will now be a regular!

Andrea’s 3-star review: Well it's McDonalds. Pretty much the same wherever you are in the world. Sometimes I'll pop in either just before they close at 1am to grab a tiny cheeseburger and fries or at 7am for a bacon and egg McMuffin and coffee after after an evening of libations. The common denominator here is: alcohol. I am a firm believer that McDonald's is only appropriate when drunk or hung over, so I'm generally surprised when I see lines here mid day. Seriously what are you thinking people? Sometimes my fries are lukewarm and sometimes my cheeseburgers are squished, so consistent quality is lacking. What this particular location does have going for it is an excellent air filtration system which means it doesn't smell like McDonalds directly outside. -
Andrea’s 4-star review: Update on my last review: they now list the number of shots in each drink on their menu. They range from 1.5-3(!!!). Turns out I was unknowingly drinking triples the night I hit the floor. Definitely thankful that this info has been added! -
Andrea’s 5-star review: Clean and fast, with conveniently located stops from Brighouse and YVR to Waterfront. The trains start running daily around 4:45am, which is really handy when you have to catch an early morning flight. Service is frequent and the fares are relatively cheap ($2.75 for 1 zone, $4 for 2 zones), considering the level of service you're getting. It's not usually crowded unless you hit it in rush hour, in which case be prepared to be smushed up against the windows like sardines. Oh and can I just reiterate how CLEAN it is? Cleanest transit line I've ever encountered, and believe me I've been around. A much more pleasant ride than the Millennium or Expo lines. Gated entry is coming in the fall to prevent fare evasion. Freeloaders, consider yourself warned! -
Andrea’s 4-star review: FUN and quirky little dessert joint in Riley Park. I'm a non-chocolate lover (weird I know) so the dessert options can be a little limited for me, but I've had success with the fruit crumble and the raspberry cheesecake thus far. Plus they make a mean boozey Italian coffee. Mmmmmm... Since it's only open after dark, I'm pretty certain it's run by vampires. -
Andrea’s 5-star review: Love me some Earnest Ice Cream, which I've been purchasing at Farmer's Markets and Marche St. George for well over a year now. It took me forever to finally visit the Earnest storefront because of their limited hours. When I finally stopped by at 4pm on a Friday and there was no line and some unoccupied tables to sit at! Score! My usual favourites are the Whiskey Hazelnut and Salted Caramel, but I opted for a scoop of their featured rhubarb crumble and pints of mint chocolate chip and London Fog to go. The rhubarb crumble was pretty amazing and London Fog may be a new favourite! Sure their prices ($11/pint) are higher than any ice cream you'd purchase at a grocery store, but there is no comparison in quality - Earnest's is much more rich and creamy than anything you'd find elsewhere, and because it is rich I find I only need a little amount to satisfy my sweet tooth! -
Andrea’s 3-star review: It's all about the patio! Sunshine, astro turf and a flurry of flamingos are the perfect combo for good times. Throw in a cocktail or some seasonal beer and some deep fried pickles and those times are GREAT (seriously, your MUST try the deep fried pickles...nom nom nom). They've got a standard selection of pub-esque and fair-type food - BLT and poutine are pretty good! Also there's an array of boozey slushies to choose from. Prices are reasonable but unfortunately, the service can be a little lack-lustre - my glass is all too often empty. -
Andrea’s 3-star review: Pretty good Thai on Main St. - a solid 3.5 star experience. I think the ratings are a little inflated so I'll round down. I may just be overly critical since,, I'm used to the Thai restaurants in Toronto, which are about as common as sushi joints here so there are many more legit options around... Came in for lunch and tried the Red curry beef lunch special for $8.75. It was accompanied by rice, a chicken satay, and a spring roll and was far more than enough food. The beef was a little bit tough and the red curry was not spicy enough for my liking, but overall it was good by Vancouver standards. Given I live less than 5 minutes away, I'd totally stop in for a lunch special again or grab some take out sometime. Pretty good value for the $$. -

Andrea’s 5-star review: I adopted 2 kittens from VOKRA and VAWH was the nearest vet that was offering a free initial exam and spay, provided my kitties take part in a study on pain management. I am glad we had the opportunity to try this vet without paying for these services, because the price would have probably deterred me from ever considering it in the first place. My experiences with VAWH have been great so far, however, so I will likely stick with them for the long haul, even if it costs a little (or quite a bit) extra. The kitties had their initial exam with Dr. Redgrave who was great - he seemed to be very thorough in the exam and answered all of my new kitten mom questions. The kitties loved him too. He mentioned that instead of just vaccinating the kitties every year that they do blood work to see if they need booster vaccines, which is something that I think is invaluable given the rising concerns about the negative health consequences that are possibly associated with over-vaccination. The second time I went in it was to get the kitties spayed. The receptionists and veterinary assistant were very helpful in explaining the procedure and letting me know what to expect afterward. After I left, they called me a few hours later to let me know that the procedure was finished and that they were recovering well. Now, I remember the last time a had a cat spayed - she hid under furniture, was lethargic, and did not want to be touched. This time, the experience was the complete opposite. As soon as I got them home they were playing with one another like normal - you would never have known that they had just had surgery (except for the silly cones they had on their heads)! I also had them purring on my lap in no time. In sum, from what I hear this place is expensive, however your animal will receive excellent treatment. If cost is not too much of a concern for you, I would highly recommend it - it's well worth it! -
Andrea’s 5-star review: I've been back to Grub twice in the past month, and it's still my favourite spot on Main - if not all of Vancouver. Recently I've tried both rockfish and sole atop two variations of risotto (one with prawns and one with scallops). The fish has always been cooked to perfection and the risotto has been absolutely delicious! Both times I topped this off with a shared lemon brulee tart, quite sweet but really good. A main on its own was filling, and the dessert a stretch (but so darn irresistible). Also have tried the Tommy Collins and the Sangria, with the sangria being a standout. Great value for the $. -
Andrea’s 4-star review: I had held off on trying this place for quite some time, given I was bitter that Saltspring Coffee had closed its shop in this location. When I was finally ready to embrace change, I was pleasantly surprised. The baristas were friendly, and the decor had received a nice upgrade (concrete counter, nice new wooden tables). They made me the perfect 12oz skim latte for under $4. Several of the pastries looked pretty good, and the almond croissant was a winner. Overall, everything was good, but unfortunately they've got Trafiq directly across the street which has a mind blowing array of pastries, cakes, cookies and sandwiches. -
Andrea’s 5-star review: A girly girl's dream! Tons of adorable dresses at relatively reasonable prices (everything I ever look at seems to be $79), perfect if you're looking for something to wear to a summer wedding or other semi-formal occasion. Really, I wish I had more excuses to dress up! This is also a great place to purchase gifts as they have tons of cute jewelry at a variety of price points - from $10 - $100+. Every time I go in here to pick out a gift, I always end up leaving with one (or two) things for me... I just can't help myself.... -
Andrea’s 5-star review: Tons of selection for beautiful fresh local produce - rainbow chard, rainbow carrots, kale, fresh apples, you name it and it's here. Canned jams, kimchee, pickles, syrups, dipping oils and honey. Also some meat, bread, and dessert items. And you can't forget the food trucks! A great place to do your weekend grocery shopping, and a fun way to spend a Saturday morning. -
Andrea’s 3-star review: On an Saturday evening when my fridge was painfully bare I found this place on orderit.ca and thought I'd give it a whirl. Ordered naan, samosas, raita, poppadom, butter chicken, and palak paneer. Delivery was really really fast (under 30 minutes), but keep in mind I do live only 2 blocks away. All of the dishes arrived hot and were very flavourful, however I was disappointed that they were not spicy at all. In retrospect I realize that I could have probably mentioned that I wanted my dishes spicy in the field where you can enter notes to the restaurant, so I'll take the fault for that one. It's just something to be aware of if ordering online. I had a 20% off coupon so it came to $34 with tax and tip. This was well worth it given the quality of the food and the fact that there were enough leftovers for another lunch and dinner for 2 people! I have walked by this place on numerous occasions and notice it always seems to be painfully empty which is too bad given that the food is quite good. While it's not somewhere I would go to dine in, it is a solidly good takeout and delivery place.

Andrea’s 5-star review: Wow. Fantastic coffe, sandwiches, and desserts. I ordered the breakfast sandwich with bacon, lemon tartlet, and a latte, and tried a bit of my date's chai latte and vanilla eclair. It was probably the best breakfast sandwich I've eaten in my whole life, and everything else was fantastic too. I would say the prices were slightly less than Starbucks but the food was a billion times better. The staff were also very friendly. This is going to be a new regular haunt for me! -
Andrea’s 5-star review: Amazing little macaron place in the heart of Mount Pleasant! A tad on the expensive side ($1.75 each or $19 for 12), but you can definitely taste the quality and, hey, you deserve a treat once in awhile, don't you? Come early in the day for the best selection of flavours!
