Greater Vancouver Restaurants with Takeout & Delivery during COVID-19
One way to support local businesses during the current COVID-19 mandates in Greater Vancouver is to patronize them via takeout, delivery or curbside pickup. Restaurants, breweries, coffee shops and retailers often have thin margins and this is one way to ensure they survive during the current climate. Issabelle’s 5-star review: When I want to treat myself to quality ice cream, I come to La Glace. From the beautiful decor, to the creative spin on ice cream flavours, I love everything about La Glace. The owner Mark is Filipino, and as a fellow Filipino, I appreciate his nod to Filipino culture by having kalamansi sherbert, coco pandan and ube flavours on the menu. Which are both delicious, by the way. On top of those flavours, I've also tried the cinnamon roll, mini egg, and the lavender infused coffee flavours, which are also amazing. I know everyone has different taste palates, but when I say you can't go wrong with any of the flavours here, you really can't. Currently they're offering take out and delivery, so you can still get your La Glace fix and enjoy it from the comfort of your own home, which is exactly what I did tonight. I can't wait to come back here in person to pick up a large ice cream cone and eat it at the park across the street. Counting down the days! Offering take out service daily from 11am-7pm.Issabelle’s 5-star review: La Foret is the cafe + coffee shop of my dreams. A few reasons why I love them: 1. Beautiful and relaxing atmosphere. Brick walls, string lights, big windows for natural lighting, plenty of greenery, spacious, lots of tables and seating. Everything about La Foret is what I would have if I owned a coffee shop/cafe. 2. They have an assortment of breakfast dishes, baked goods, waffles, bingsoo, sandwiches and paninis for you to choose from. I've tried both their avocado breakfast platter and chicken and waffles, which were both delicious. Their breakfast platter came with an almond and cranberry salad on the side which was to die for. I wish I had more of this! 3. Their yummy coffees. I tried their eggnog latte and was pleasantly surprised. I've never been a big eggnog fan, but La Foret's was pretty tasty. Their vanilla lavender lattes were quite delicious as well! The only thing I'm bummed about is that they're located so far away from me. On the other hand, maybe that's a good thing (for my bank account). Chill vibes, good breakfast dishes, love love love coming back here. -

Offering wine delivery for 50% off.Issabelle’s 5-star review: The business owners got it right when they named their restaurant "Tasty Indian Bistro" because they serve up some of the best Indian food I've ever tasted. So good that I'm practically licking the butter chicken bowl clean. First of all, the interior decor of this restaurant is visually appealing. It's low-lit and reminds me of the interior of Joeys and Cactus, but with an Indian twist. The restaurant itself is fairly large with plenty of seating for large groups. Which is amazing because even though they have tons of space, there is always a long line at the door. The fact that people are patient enough to wait just shows how great their food is. I know I've talked about how good their food is a few times already, but really... This place is just that good. Their portions are definitely made for sharing, but don't worry, there's enough to go around. Whenever my fam jam comes here we end up getting 3-4 dishes to share with a side of chicken binyera and naan bread to mix in. Some of my favourites are (obviously) the butter chicken, prawn masala, and chicken tikka. But on my recent visit the shahi paneer (cheese simmered in a tomato-cream gravy) really stood out to me, flavour-wise. Also guys, they have pizza naan... Let me repeat... PIZZA. NAAN. And yes it's just as good as it sounds *heart-eyed emoji*. If my last meal on earth was butter chicken + naan bread from Tasty, I'd die a happy lady. -

Upgrading this spot to 5 stars because it's quickly become one of my favourite hang out spots over the last year. Havana was bought out and renovated by different owners and they turned this place around. Not that it was bad before, but I love this spot even more post-renovation. This is one of my go-to spots on Commercial for brunch, happy hour, and dinner. Why? Their 5-star service and delicious bites. The service has always been top tier and above and beyond everytime I've come in. Special shout out to Greg, John, and Esther, who've always treated us like rockstars everytime I've come in. Must get brunch bites: + Cuban skillet + Croque Señora + Tres Leches French Toast (to die for!!!) + Little Havana Brunch Bowl + Havana Spiced Salmon Gravlax Hash Honestly, I've tried almost everything from their brunch menu and have loved all of them. You can't really go wrong with any of them. Must get happy hour/dinner bites: + Midnight Snack Croquettes + Mussels Espana + Cubano + Latin Burger + Paella Negra + Coconut Curry For happy hour they have $2 off cocktails, $5 wine/beer, and $5 mojitos. They have tacos on special as well. During the summer this is the perfect spot to enjoy bites and drinks on the patio and during the winter, this is a great, dark, cozy spot to again enjoy bites and drinks. Would highly recommend Havana! -

Their cool AF building - The Belgard Kitchen is located within The Settlement Building that also has Vancouver Urban Winery and Postmark Brewing. What. A. Lineup. Three of my fave Vancouver local businesses under one roof? Uber convenient. This building used to be a steel factory back during World War II and previously was used as a furniture store, an underground "club" and now a lifestyle business. This whole place is Insta-worthy and has me snapping photos the minute I walk through the door. If you get a chance to sit upstairs with a large party, I'd highly recommend it... beautiful greenery, high ceilings and string lights. Ugh, y'all know how I feel about string lights. 2. Their food. Currently drooling just thinking about it. Their menu is set up family style. The farther down the menu you go, the bigger the portions - so I was told. My faves? The yam gnocchi w/ lamb, the coppa cabana pizette (quite possibly one of the best pizza's I've had), and their grilled cheese sticks w/ tomato soup. Cue more drool. 3. Their drinks. A winery AND brewery? Oh god, I'm in heaven. They have 34 wines on tap... yup, you read that right... ON TAP. Fresh AF. Their rose and clos du solei are probably my top 2 wines. As for beers, I'm a huge fan of any of their IPAs. They come out with quite a few seasonal options, so all the more reason to visit them more often. 4. Their staff. Shoutout to their wonderful bartenders, servers, and staff who make sure to treat you right at home. Love love love this place. Whether it's for an event, brunch, dinner, or a quick drink, you just can't go wrong here. -

Goodbowl is located in a central location in Richmond in the new-ish Central City Center. Since it's in a plaza, there are plenty of free parking spots nearby. The concept of this place is simple: you pick your base: noodles or rice, pick your veggies + toppings, then pick your protein (beef, pork, chicken, or tofu). Then they toss it all on a large circular grill - Mongolian style. Last step: choose your sauce. For mine I chose chicken for my protein, wild rice as my base, kale, spinach, carrots, peppers, mushrooms, and more for my toppings, and chipotle coconut as my sauce. All of this took less than 10 minutes and it was delicious! I guess I didn't realize how hungry I was because I scarfed it all down real quick. I think that next time I'll go with the noodles because it definitely seems like you get more bang for your buck there. They also have an assortment of smoothies that you can choose from. I decided on the green juice smoothie which tasted healthy and delicious. Since we came in around lunch time it was fairly busy with a small lunch rush, but the staff handled it perfectly. There are also plenty of tables around so that you can sit down and enjoy your meal, or you can get your bowl to go and they'll pack it up for you. If your looking for a cheap, quick, healthy meal around this area, come to Goodbowl. They'll hook you up. -

And, 2 years later, I still think it's the best sushi in the Ladner/Delta area. This has been my go to sushi take out place during quarantine and everything I've gotten has been filling and delicious. Any of their maki and special rolls are a hit for my taste buds and belly, with the crispy crunch roll and spicy yam roll most recently being my favourite go-to order. Service is still efficient and friendly. Whenever I've come in to pick up my order, I'm greeted with a big, appreciative smile and a cheerful hello. Prices are still fair - with their large sushi platter being only $32 for 48 pieces. Such a steal, in my opinion. Main point: if you're in the Ladner/Delta area and are looking for delicious sushi, Sapporo Kitchen is your spot. Thank you for all the sushi, friends. #SupportLocal -

Issabelle’s 4-star review: I love bakeries, I really do. There's something about the sweet smell in the air the minute you walk in, and the beautiful assortment of pastries lined up on display ready for you to eat, that just has me salivating almost every single time I step into a bakery. This spot is no different. My brother and I had just finished our lunch, and we needed a small sweet treat to balance our all the savoury we just put in our bellies. The Steveston Bakery was right across the street, so we just popped in real quickly. Alas, the minute we walked in that sweet smell washed over us, and I was excited to take a look at what different pastries they had to offer. Croissants, muffins, cheesecakes... I did not know how I was going to pick just one. I settled on a chocolate croissant (although the almond croissant looked equally tempting) and my brother got a mini carrot cake - cream cheese frosting and all. My croissant, while yummy and chocolatey, was nothing in comparison to that carrot cake. WOW. It was perfect and so, so, so moist (and I hate using that word). It was so rich, that after 2 bites I was more than satisfied. The lady helping us at the register was a sweet older woman - I wasn't able to catch her name, but she was so helpful and very, very kind. I also saw that they serve an assortment of brunch items - breakfast bagels, breakfast burritos, and eggs benny... so I'd love to come back to check this out - especially since they bake all their bread in house! Honestly, I'd come back to this bakery just to get a large carrot cake for myself. No shame. -

Issabelle’s 4-star review: Honestly, it's really hard to find delicious Filipino food that's outside of my parent's or grandparent's house. That's my opinion at least. But Pinpin comes pretty damn close to what home-cooked Filipino food should taste like. It was my first time eating at Pinpin, but I've heard about this spot from my parents on numerous occasions. During my first trip here, I expected the food to be similar to many of the other Filipino restaurants I've been to - mediocre. But, they proved me wrong. I came with my family and between the 4 of us we ordered the crispy pata, palabok, pinakbet, bbq chicken skewers, and lumpia Shanghai. It was more than enough for all of us. For dessert we also ordered the small halo-halo. Have to get a little bit of savoury and a little bit of sweet, of course. Service was attentive and even though we came in 20 minutes before close, they were very kind and efficient. On that note, even 20 minutes before close the restaurant was still fully packed. So that says a lot about them. Hats off to you, Pinpin. Keep it up! -

Issabelle’s 4-star review: Growing up in a very proud Filipino household has resulted in me being really, really, really picky when it comes to Filipino food. When my parents are tired of cooking their own Filipino food, this is the spot that they come to to get their fix. Little Ongpin is one of the most authentic and best Filipino restaurants in town. Things to order from here: + Chicken (or pork) BBQ sticks + Pork sisig + Lumpia (spring rolls) + Adobo I always get the $6.95 #1 value meal which comes with steamed rice, bbq chicken and 4 baby egg rolls. I usually substitute the steamed rice for the garlic fried rice, which I'd recommend doing. I also recommend getting the halo-halo dessert to share with your table. Halo halo is a large dessert (think shaved ice sundae) that consists of shaved ice, ube ice cream, green lychee, coconut, leche flan, plantains, and sweet red beans. Halo-halo in tagolog means "to mix", so this dessert is meant to mix all these ingredients together to form a sweet, delicious, slushy dessert.
