Kaitlin’s 5-star review: This place was amazing! I ended up going for a friend's birthday and I cannot stress how delicious the food here is. We were able to do a tasting and try a variety of items on the menu which is probably the best way to eat here. The menu can accommodate vegetarian, vegan and allergies so don't be afraid to come check this place out. The service was attentive and prompt. The staff is super knowledgeable about the courses they were serving and even with a large group, it was 10/10 for service. My table shared the following dishes: Guacamole de la Casa - easily one of the best guacamoles I've ever had. It was fresh and the chips are made in-house. This is a must order for sure! Blistered Shishito Chillies - don't be afraid to try this dish. The overall spice of the peppers is mild but packed with a ton of flavour. The hummus and plantain chips help to elevate the flavours and textures of the dish. Brussel Sprout Frita - OMG! If you aren't a lover of brussel sprouts, this will make you one. The lemon and honey absolutely compliments the Mexican togarashi flavours in this dish. Peruvian Scallop Ceviche - one word to describe this dish, WOW! The scallops are tender and the combination of flavours from the street corn make this easily one of my favourite dishes. Wild Argentine Sea Prawns - mouthwatering and absolutely delicious. I loved the butter browned corn arepas the prawns came with. Amazing! Turmeric Cauliflower Frita Tacos - the cauliflower is perfectly done and the tomato ginger jam elevates this dish. Mushroom Tacos - visually stunning tacos and loved the chunks of roasted garlic in this taco. Dulce de Leche - the churros are delicious and I really enjoyed the caramelized pineapple. Bonus: the cocktails here were beautiful and I was able to try a couple of mocktails (Tropic Thunder and La Vida Dulce) that were excellent. -
Kaitlin’s 5-star review: My party was headed to Bard on the Beach so we decided to stop in and grab some eats at MeeT on Main last week. This is my second time eating at MeeT and I'm already looking forward to returning. I found their staff to be attentive and friendly. The place was busy but the food came promptly and hot. We started with calamari and drinks before ordering our entrees. I think the calamari will be something I order every time because it is just that good. Oyster mushrooms are where it's at. I've had the Crispy BBQ burger before but ordered it with Caesar salad this time and I was not disappointed. The burger is easily one of my favourite plant-based burger out there. The Caesar salad is worth trying! My wife ordered the ginger beefless bowl and absolutely loved it. She said it would be something she'd order again. The sauce has just the right level of spice to it. My mother-in-law ordered the lovely bowl and enjoyed it. She was not able to finish it because of how hearty it was. Both bowls are beautifully put together and look almost too good to eat. Thanks MeeT on Main! I look forward to seeing you again. -
Kaitlin’s 5-star review: This was my first visit Jam Cafe and I can't wait to come back. I loved the overall vibe of this restaurant. The decor and theme is spot on. The menu has a ton of options for all types of eaters. I ordered the Mushroom Florentine Benny and I was not disappointed. The hollandaise was easily one of the best I've ever had. Loved everything about this dish and would 100% order it again. Service was fantastic and this place was super busy! It is worth checking out. -
Kaitlin’s 5-star review: MeeT has been on my restaurant bucket list for quite some time now and I finally got a chance to give it a try this weekend. The restaurant has a fantastic vibe to it with lots different styles of seating and a great ambiance. I really like the industrial look to the place and also loved the different types of lighting throughout. The restaurant also played some early 2000s classics so can't complain there either. To drink I tried THE CLASSIC: PINEAPPLE BASIL SMASH, MeeT's signature cocktail. It is a house-made basil infused gin cocktail with fresh pineapple. It had great depth of flavour that was a perfect balance of fresh basil with not overly sweet pineapple. It is definitely worth trying. I ordered the OYSTER MUSHROOM KALAMARI, which came highly recommend by our server. Not only does it look convincingly like kalamari, the crunch and batter flavours are spot on. This starter is a must order! It was hard to choose exactly what to have as a main due to the variety of dishes on the menu. Lots of options for whatever you are in the mood for. I opted to split the CRISPY BBQ BURGER with K-TOWN poutine and THE BEET SALAD with my wife. Both entrees served up huge portions with tons of flavour. The CRISPY BBQ BURGER featured MeeT's signature burger patty, battered and loaded up with whiskey BBQ sauce. The crispy onion strings added a delicious crunch to the burger. The K-TOWN POUTINE was probably the most unique combination of flavours I've ever had on poutine before. The fries had that classic gravy goodness but also were drizzled with a sweet soy ginger sauce that added a lot of depth to the poutine. The addition of nori and kimchi brought different textures that actually paired quite nicely. THE BEET SALAD did not disappoint as it was a large serving of house greens, roasted red beets, marinated chickpeas, carrots & corn tossed in a pea pesto dressing with crumbled feta & pumpkin seeds on top. I loved the pea pesto dressing and would definitely order this salad again. It was so fresh and I loved how colourful it was. If you are looking for amazing vegan eats, check this place out. You won't be disappointed! -
Kaitlin’s 5-star review: This is a food truck that is worth following around the lower mainland. Today I shared the crispy Chick'n burger, Kansa bbq wings and buffalo Chick'n poutine and Veg Out truck did not disappoint. The crispy chick'n burger gives any chicken sandwich out there a run for its money. The breading the chick'n ratio is perfect and it's delivers a fantastic crunch. The toppings help to elevate this sandwich to the next level. I can easily say this is the best plant-based chick'n burger I have ever had. The Kansa BBQ wings were delicious! I have never had plant-based wings like this before. The texture is incredibly wing like which is usually hard to pull off when working with plant-based proteins. I also appreciated how the wings came shaped like real chicken wings. The Buffalo chick'n poutine featured chick'n bites covered in a nicely balanced buffalo sauce, flavourful gravy, house made ranch and mozza shred. This combination of toppings and perfectly crisp fries makes this a must order if you ever have the chance to eat here. I cannot speak more highly of this truck and the delicious eats it features. You know the plant-based food is good when even your meat eating friends have nothing but good things to say. -
Kaitlin’s 4-star review: I've been following Down 2 Earth Plant Parlour on social media for some time now and finally had a chance to try out their brunch menu. The restaurant is super busy on the weekends and my weekday schedule doesn't typically let me brunch mid-week so when the opportunity came up, I jumped at it! The restaurant has a great beautiful front counter that provides you with options to dine in or take out. The dine in seating is small so I can see why this place gets really slammed on the weekends. The overall look of D2E is trendy, west coast chic. I ordered a peppermint mocha made with coconut milk and the west coast Benny breakfast. This dish was delicious, is completely vegan and does not skimp on flavour. The tofu eggs are moist and the texture is comparable to a poached egg. The cashew hollandaise sauce is to die for and I really liked how D2E replicated smoked salmon with carrots. I would highly recommend trying this featured item if you have a chance. -
Kaitlin’s 5-star review: This was my first time visiting Smugglers Trail and I loved every minute of it. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Our service was attentive and food/beverages arrived quickly. The brewery has a huge open space that features the beautiful taps on display but also had massive patio space that I'm sure is full in the warmer months. I was able to try the following while visiting Smugglers Trail: SCRUMPERS TRIPLE BERRY SOUR FRUITED SOUR | 5.5% | 10 IBU Strawberry, blueberry and boysenberry beer bursting with sweet jammy fruit. available in a 16oz can pour only. Get it while quantities last! Thoughts: I really enjoyed this fruity sour beer. It had a subtle sweetness that went down way too easy. For a sour, the fruit and hops was balanced quite nicely. SCRUMPERS DARK SOUR | 7% | 10 IBU Our dark sour is back by popular demand. Scrumping is the act of thieving fruit from a neighbor's orchard. Far from forbidden, this sour is (mostly) on the up and up. Dark, Sour, Sweet, Scrumptious. Thoughts: This beer was delicious! It had a strong fruit flavour with a subtle, almost coffee-like finish to it. VEGGIE BURGER Our own veggie burger patty (vegan, gluten friendly, soy free) green goddess dressing, avocado, shredded lettuce, sliced tomato, red onions and crumbled feta cheese in a toasted seeded bun. Served with fries or our seasonal house salad. (vegan option available , NO FETA) Thoughts: This burger was fresh, had lots of flavour and the patty wasn't dried out (like most veggie patties can be) I really enjoyed the green goddess dressing that came with it. It definitely exceeded my expectations and the poutine side was massive. I think my favourite part of my time spent at Smugglers Trail (aside from spending time with friends) was the live music that apparently happens every Monday night. ANTONIO LAROSA was the featured artist and did he ever deliver. His sets were a mix of country, rock and pop covers. Amazing voice and definitely created an enjoyable atmosphere. I look forward to my next visit to Smugglers Trail. -

Kaitlin’s 5-star review: Wild Thyme is an absolute must! This was my second dining experience here and I continue to have nothing but great things to say about this place. The staff are friendly and attentive. There is a reason this place is so highly rated and busy. And now for the main event, the food. My table ordered the Spicy Cheese, Cauliflower with Rice for our mains. The meal also comes with a starter Fattoush salad and an assortment of dips (hummus, baba ghanouj, garlic and yoghurt) with oven fresh flat bread. All of the dips are made with fresh ingredients that are delicious. And Lots of garlic, which is a requirement! I am absolutely in love with the Cauliflower with Rice as it is covered with tahini sauce, flavourful vegetables and then baked in a brick oven. The dish is a perfect balance of rich, creamy tahini and roasted cauliflower. It is worth ordering. The other main (the spicy cheese) is a delicious flatbread with cheese and spicy red peppers. It is also baked in the brick oven which adds a great texture and flavour to the flatbread. I love dipping this in the assorted dips, particularly the garlic dip. I cannot speak more highly about Wild Thyme. I look forward to my next visit(s) as this place is easily one of the best spots to eat in the Lower Mainland. -
