Hundreds of millions of reviews are posted on Yelp, and our automated recommendation software works in the background to showcase the reviews that it determines are most helpful. These are typically written by active members of the Yelp community who are self-motivated to share their personal, detailed experiences about local businesses. It applies the same objective rules to reviews of every business and treats reviews of advertisers and non-advertisers exactly the same.
The software does something no human can—regularly analyze billions of data points from all reviews, reviewers and businesses to evaluate the usefulness and reliability of each review. It’s engineered to provide a level playing field for all businesses on Yelp. Having a great reputation on Yelp shouldn't be about who has the time and resources to ask the most people to write reviews. Great Yelp reviews and ratings should come from consumers who had a great experience that they’re inspired to tell others about. Learn more here.

I wish Cheri would keep a little note about each customer, with color and cut preferences. I get color every 8-10 weeks and I went 4 times in all wishing she would remember me and my choices. But not... she is too busy and always bringing up her "waiting list"... She seems great for long hair styles thought but that's not my look.

If I have to give this place a ZERO I would..... BAD CUSTOMER SERVICES.........I don't understand how this place all review at 4 and 5 star. This place has the worse customer service I ever experience in my whole life regards to hair salon services. I am all about customer services, my theory is no matter how GOOD YOU ARE, maintain the best customer services is the key to success for life. Never blame or argue with customer regardless the customer is at fault...... but just listen and respond nicely....this is the key terms for business owner. And if no business owner has this, you really need to take some education to train yourself before you open a business.
I finally came to this place referred by someone, I have to say that she does a good work and ok price so I decided to come back the second time to get my hair done. when I call her the owner" CHERRI". I don't feel the connection that she needs me as customer. I told her I would like to book an appointment and she responded" I am busy this week" .... This is a terrible respond.. what she could have said is " Hi.... How are you.... nice to hear back from you...... When would you like to come in"" then listen to the customer and have them talk before you jumped into conclusion thinking that the customer want to come in that week that you are busy. This is the first bad impression that I had. But I am thinking maybe she had bad day so I decided to keep the appointment.
I arrived on the day of the appointment; I was about 45 minutes late. I tried to call her phone at 2pm and then at 3pm and then at 5pm to let her know I am gonna be late or I may have to reschedule. The phone line kept on busy so I decided to leave work an hr early to show up at her shop because I couldn't get thru her. I finally arrived 45 minutes late because it was traffic hrs. I walked in and she does not say Hello or anything but looking at me like I am a kid and responded with her eyes rolling and said " YOU KNOW YOUR APPOINMENT IS AT 5:30Pm with an attitude. I cannot do anything now because I have a client." This is a failure respond to your customer. You must need to find out the reason why she is late and then start talking.. I told her the reason I am late because I couldn't get thru her because the phone line was busy and I have to drive so far away to see you. She responded no one is using the phone........ at this point, I am pissed off she never greed me when I first came in or now she is arguing with me telling her I called her but the phone as busy. She acts like I am lying to her about calling her. This is a biggest mistake, never assume your customer is lying... regardless the customer call or not, you need to learn how to deal with business problem that could arrive in your work environment. It's not about what you say but how you say it ... I would never ever recommend this place to anyone. Stay way...business is all about customer services, the owner of this place which is CHERRI DOES NOT HAVE THIS AT ALL. -

I do NOT recommend this place at all. The woman who gave me highlights spoke very poor English and had a hard time understanding what I was telling her. She left the lightening solution on too long and it ultimately FRIED my hair. It is now stringy (with slight green tints in areas) and it breaks off when I comb it! When I first got home and had a chance to really look at it, I nearly cried. The highlights looked silly. I couldn't stand it, so I immediately rushed out and bought a hair dye kit to restore my previous style.
When the stylist was working, a drop of chemical splattered on to my lip for a second (she didn't notice of course) and now I'm left with a burn mark!
I will NEVER come back to this place. I'm not sure how well they cut hair, but I do not recommend getting any coloring treatment!!! -

If I could I would give this place no stars. If you love your hair do not go here. You will get a slanted hair cut guaranteed! I came here and the lady in the front desk ate her lunch for 10 minutes before helping me even though there were no other customers in the salon. When she finally cut my hair it ended up being majorly uneven. The most disappointing service ever!

I felt compelled to start a Yelp account because of my experience at this salon. I chose to go here only because I just moved to San Leandro and it's very near to wear I live. I walked into an empty salon and a lady sat me at a chair and asked me to wait while she found the other hair dresser to help me. He returned and quickly examined my hair before greeting me. I told him that I just needed to get a touch up as my black roots were showing and that I also needed a trim. We started chatting and read more » he noticed that I had a lot of hair. I told him that it usually takes a long time for my hair to take color because it's so thick and dark and he said confidently that it he knew how to apply color to hair like mine. After about 2 hours under the dryer he washed my hair and sat me back at the chair. I was surprised to see that I had blonde roots with my brown ends. There was obviously a problem but he did not address it and tried to immediately talk about how I wanted my hair cut. I sat in disbelief for 5 minutes and started to cry. I could not believe what I saw in the mirror. The owner walked over and said "There's no need to cry, we can fix it" but I could not take sitting there for another 2 hours much less 2 more minutes. I got up and went to the counter to pay. To add insult to injury, they charged me full price. I would never go to this salon again. Do not go here. My next review will be to the Better Business Bureau. I give this place negative 5 stars.

Sort of conflicted about penning this review since I actually really like most of the stylists who work here. That said, I recently got a haircut by someone who is not my normal stylist and she was sooooooooo unpleasant. Right off the bat, she told me I needed to get a shampoo and blowdry before she would cut my hair. I told her thanks but no thanks, as I was literally heading straight home afterwards. She rolled her eyes and directed me back to her chair.
As she cut my hair, she made another comment about how the hairstyle I wanted wouldn't look good unless she styled it. I told her (again) that I wasn't interested and she was clearly annoyed. She then accidentally RIPPED MY EARRING OUT with her brush and did not even apologize. F****ing beyond rude.
I really wish I had gotten her name so that I could give a more specific warning to people. It was honestly that bad. -

I came in knowing my hair would be a process since i had it box dyed with red and i wanted to go blonde. My friend recommended me this place and I'm so surprised and in love with how my balayage turned out given it's my first session with red undertones. Can't wait to come back for another session and go lighter! Thanks Magic Touch:)

Went in for a haircut and she was really fast and very nice. She even styled my hair and gave me some tips since my hair has become very damaged.
