Sushi restaurant in East Bay (w/both good fish and "Americanized" stuff)

    Hey everyone,

So I've finally decided that I'm dragging my family to sushi for my graduation dinner since it's my favorite :), but I'm having trouble picking a restaurant. Since I'm a starving college student, I don't frequent nice sushi places often, and from the reviews around here, it seems like you have to be a regular at a lot of these places to have nice service.

Also, and this is where I likely differ from the Bay Area epicures, but I actually would prefer a restaurant with the more typical Americanized rolls and cooked food options in addition to good fresh sashimi and nigiri (My dad, grandpa, and I eat sashimi pretty exclusively, with an occasional roll, but my younger brother and sister are decidedly more into tempura rolls, chicken teriyaki, etc.)

So...here' s my challenge to the amazing yelpers out there: where can I find such a place in the East Bay???

I've looked at Kirala...but the prices seem a lot higher than what I pay for good sushi in Southern California...is the going price of sushi just more expensive up here?

    Thanks!

Ray's Sushi in Hayward can be really good most of the times. Once in a blue moon it can be just blah.

    This place looks interesting... yelp.com/biz/coach-sushi…

Suge, well, it's a block away, so that's nice, and it's related to the Ozumo in SF. That's all I really know about it. Oh...it shares valet parking services with Pican next door.
