Uber X , Lyft , Sidecar I think is so illegal and I just don't feel safe riding in those people's personal unmarked cars honestly. The whole theme is everyone's driver but when I hear all these people and news how they get ripped off and getting harrased by the drivers and even Attack by the ride share drivers, so I had my cousin who is has a felony on his record do a investigation and I made him apply for Uber, lyft , Sidecar and uber replied that he got approved to drive and lyft replied and he got approved with lyft and now he had to download the app with lyft and sidecar he got approved no problem, and he was shocked because he couldn't get approved to work anywhere because he had a felony on his record. So People please Read this Carefully these Rideshare Apps are great convenient but here's the risk no insurance , the insurance covers to a limit where it's only like $5,000 and I read the uber,  lyft , sidecars policy it's SAYS Just like this RIDE at your own risk!! So people really don't see that because when you download the app you just agree the rules with Rideshare app companies but like it's say ride at your own risk. Is my Cousin had a DUI and killed a person while drunk when he was 19 and now he is 26 and all these Rideshare companies don't do a really great background check like taxis and limo drivers, so when you get in these Rideshare companies just think hmm who is driving you ??? A good guy or a felon or rapist or predator??? But honestly I'll pass I'll rather use taxis or a limo business.

The OP is just butt-hurt because he thinks he paid 50% too much a week ago when he used Uber.

Pretty douchey to turn that into this pedestrian rant.
...and that bit about the cousin? sounds like bullshit to me.

    Uber X  requirement.
At least 21 years old, with a personal license and personal auto insurance.
Your Vehicle Is.  Any mid-size or full-size 4-door vehicle, in excellent condition.

It called Hitch hiking in the rest of the country.  except you use a phone instead of a thumb.   get.uber.com

I think it's awesome that you helped your cousin find work. Congrats!

  1. I find it funny how OP has a 1 star review for a Taxi Cab service.  OP should just get a car.

Rapped - well thankfully this didn't happen:  nydailynews.com/news/cri…

Murdered - not yet, but certainly stalked:  valleywag.gawker.com/whe…

As well as attacked with a hammer:  sfgate.com/bayarea/artic…

While the rider share concept is neat, I still think companies like Uber, Sidecar, etc still have a long way to go.

You're completely full of shit in the insurance thing. California ride sharing insurance requirements are among the stiffest in the nation and more robust than the requirements for a taxi.

Keep shilling for the dead hail a cab model though.

Troy, were you out last month?   Uber Driver Accused of Assaulting Rider with a Hammer.

This is not too far off  from the carpool across the bridges with strangers, and certainly not regulated well

And I am saying it's great format but I rather take a taxi  or limo but even uber has limo and I use uber for town car services but the uber x is the one that is worst because anyone can sign up and drive ...

Well, you got one example of how one of the named companies was "bad for you" ,
care to post at least two more, for a total of 3?  with "thousands", that should be easy to find a couple more.

That's the spirit, now how about Lyft?  BTW, I think a couple of your links are duplicates of the same incidents.
If you still use their Town Car service , why you supporting such a dangerous company?

Uber really is bad for you.  When I got in the car my cholesterol was under 200 but at the end of the ride it was 950!  Now I have to watch the commercials on 60 minutes to find out which drug I should take!

  2. Although this topic is quite serious when we're talking of people's safety and good business and all, I can't get my attention off the punctuation thing. Or lack there of.
Steve, please use commas and periods. Your run on sentences are making my brain hurt.
