I have a temporary disability issue and need to get to medical appointments while husband and other relatives are out of town next week and was wondering if anyone knew any good local medical transportation companies. I cannot drive right now as my leg pain is very bad, and additionally the medication and neutraceuticals I'm on both make me too sleepy to do so anyways.

Second I am also looking for any medical supply company that I can rent a "walker" and or "wheelchair" from so I can get around.

    Thanks in advanced!!!!

Second on Apria. They are the rental people. They just have basic stuff. Hemi wheelchairs for smaller/shorter people, or the regular ones.

I have used some private transport services. They are pretty expensive but totally doable. In general they seem to charge around $30-$40 per trip plus $1-$2 per mile. VTA Outreach (the county service) rocks! But, they require application and approval and that takes more time than you probably have right now.

By the time the VTA paperwork would kick in the acute phase will most likely be over and I can then walk & drive like a normal human as I don't take pain meds (save the occasional Advil) during those normal times of year. I'm going to check out some local places I found on Yelp then if that doesn't work try Apria.

Hallers In Centerville rents medical equipment. Not sure about the rides. Could you just use a taxi?

Taxi would be too $$$$$$ for the distance.

I have had lousy experiences with Apria. Superior is better.

Hey Melanie - do you know if you have a choice when you go through Kaiser insurance. My Apria experiences were so-so and I saw they had another not so great review. Anyway, just wondering if you knew........

Please only answer the "transportation" section of the question as I am handled on the medical equiptment. Thanks!!!
