    Hi,

My son is turning a year shortly. We are planning to have a small party, with just about 30 people. We are vegetarians and are looking for ideas on where we can hold the party. I have seen some people host parties in parks, but I am not sure how they go about arranging food. Our budget is close to 1000$. Would appreciate if you can post your ideas/suggestions on the place to host, the theme, and the estimated price (venue/theme/food). Also how necessary and expensive are the return gifts generally? I know this can vary from person to person, but I am trying to get a general feel of what the practice is like. Also, how long do people usually keep the party on? Would appreciate if you could help me with with your inputs. Thank you!

return gifts? You mean, like party favors? You usually just give little treat bags with toys and treats for the kids.

The beauty of park parties is that there's usually a playground where people's kids can run around and they usually end at sundown.

Parks are great for kids parties.  Just watch out for the Chesters.

Lake Elizabeth is a great spot, as long as you are willing to wake up early to stake out a spot, or pay to reserve a picnic area. Tons of playgrounds, space to play sports, or rent paddleboats and go around the lake.

One year old? Just sing "Happy birthday",  dance around in front of him and give him some peanut butter.
