How does everyone have the time to yelp and be on talk threads?  I am off for the summer (teacher), so that's easy.  Once school starts, I doubt I'll be around as much as I am now.  I want the kinds of jobs everyone else has though if they can be yelping so much!  Unless everyone else is a teacher too...

Aimee L - by same schedule as a student, do you mean the students who are done for the day at 3 p.m. or the ones who go home and do their homework until 10 p.m.... I, unfortunately, work like the latter.

Like MMM, I will be yelping way less in just a few more weeks... sniff.

Dave - Don't let yelping pull down your GPA!   In the end, it's your personality that lands you the job though!

I am still curious as to what the other professions are that are out there that allow for such flexibility.  Maybe everyone is just an unemployed bum in front of a computer?

I work for a nonprofit.. During the summer all of us, staff, run a summer program twice a week for about 3-4 hours and have weekly staff meetings every Friday. But actually today was our last day, and next week we're going to have a 3 day 2 night camping trip with our students as a "rite of passage." And when school starts, we're all at our school sites doing intervention work (we make our own schedule)... plus I faciliate weekly activites/leadership mtgs and go to school full-time. It gets even more hectic when we have events at work.

    Adrienne,

I work in IT Sales/Staffing.  I am just that much more efficient and good at my job than my competition.  I work for about 2-3 hours a day tops, and I still am better at what I do than 90% of my coworkers.  Its not about being the best, just slightly better than the rest.  Also, I do not think that it really matters what job you have.  As long as you work efficiently there will always be time to screw off on company time.

I do home visits, get to hold babies, and help mothers on a daily basis get access to medical care, health information, and community resources to re-enter the job  market and educational scope of life. I also show them what is normal infant development,  how to take care of their babies, when it is urgent to go to the doctor, and gain confidence in their parenting skills. I also do communicable disease investigation and management-this includes tuberculosis cases.

I sell penis soap, it's called The Cleanis.  All natural glycerin soap in six different scents and colors (essential oils for scent and food grade dye for color).  Our soaps make a great gift for bachelorettes, bdays, gay weddings, etc.  Each color/scent has its own unique name like BlueBall Berry, The Limey Peter, etc.

what the heck am I doing, sorry, I just love my job!

these talk threads are a waste of time and your special special opinionated critiquing skills. I've been putting my sweet critiquing skills to good use as a mystery diner lately. They've sent me to One Market, Park Chalet, Lark Creek Inn, Yankee Pier, Straits, Left Bank, 21st Amendment, Zazil, Tres Agaves, Americano, Pacific Catch, Pizza Antica, Colibri, the Garden Terrace and on and on and on...

Wasting time is exactly what summers are for (for teachers at least!).  I never ever get this opportunity during the school year... no matter how efficient I am.  There is always something to do.  Granted, there are some teachers who are simply out the door by 3 p.m.  My work ethic doesn't let me do that.

Oh, and I used to teach 5 years of 6th grade math.  Now I do high school Algebra and Geometry...anywhere from 9th through 12th graders...yes, there are some 12th graders who cannot pass Algebra.  So sad.

Well Mister J... you're starting to sound a little bit like my middle schoolers.  :)

I just wanted a headline that might grab some attention.  I tend to offend people when I WRITE IN ALL CAPS.  I'm not very good at the asterick stuff.  *shrug.*  And I used to get teased when I would say "y'all" (a habit I got from attending college in Virginia).

As far as my background, I may as well have blond hair and blue eyes.  I'm definitely a twinkie.  That's what happens when you grow up in a small town in PA and everyone around you is blond haired and blue eyed.  You just assimilate to what your surrounded by.
