Almost every large grocery will have them, the selection may vary.
wide mouth, qt. vs pint, etc. and they are 12 to a pak. I never saw singles.

I grabbed a pak of 12 wide mouth 16 oz ones for about 7-8 bucks. I was making a batch of dry rub and they were perfect.

Mason jars are just canning jars?  

Check out Wal-Mart.  They usually have a small section of canning supplies.  I bought some jelly jars there.  (One of my rare Wal-Mart purchases.)   Also try some stores that feature country goods, like crossover between feed store and general goods.  I once bought jelly jars and lids from a store that sold hay out of the back of the store.  (10 miles inside an urban area.)
