Hi! I'm looking for a Japanese style birthday cake, or a Japanese grocery store/bakery that sells birthday cakes in the Sacramento area. If there are any?

  1. Mahoroba on Freeport is your best bet. Call them and ask if they make "keekiya-san"...or you can just say Japanese style b'day cake. Be sure to let them know you need a whole cake as it is traditionally, in Japan at least, sold by the slice.

    Mahoroba Japanese Bakery on Freeport.
I've only bought pastries there, which are fantastic, not sure if they make cakes but sure that they can steer you in the right direction if they don't.
Oto's Marketplace close by too, Japanese grocery.

Maybe Osaka Ya on 10th Street or Oto's Market on Freeport Blvd.

I never had a Japanese birthday cake. What's the difference between a Japanese cake and a Chinese cake?... Uh...Chuck?
