No, it's not some sort of double entendre. Yes, it's a totally mundane question. But I need to have my HVAC ducts cleaned. The only company reviewed on Yelp has a 1-star rating from an orange head, so not much help there.

All the companies I've looked at seem really fly-by-night. Has anyone had a good experience with a local company? If not, I'll probably just call Sears.

    Thanks,
    Waya

You're probably aware of this, but just in case: blogs.consumerreports.or… There's a link within the above link that helps locate reputable duct cleaners. Apparently it's pretty expensive if done correctly.

Starbelly, I think I'll just start emailing you directly from now on. You're like my go-to source. :-)

By the way, the wi-fi at City Suds is actually Yogurt-A-Gogo's! But it worked, so I can't complain.

Haha, no wonder I saw everyone using their computer on that side of City Suds!

I had the ducts cleaned in my first home and really couldn't tell the difference. I remember thinking at the time that it'd probably be smarter to simply replace the ducts and reconfigure them to maximize HVAC performance at the same time. That was almost 20 years ago so perhaps air duct cleaning techniques have improved.

You're in luck Waya... =)   .... I recently had to get quotes from alot of air duct companies for my mom's office building.  Here's a few I like and dislike....

1.) Kleen Air 1657 Silicia ave.  916.922.3995 - they know their sh*t when you question them, nice people, expensive but they seem to be experts on air ducts and have been around since the 1970's.  They do commercials and residentials, have high power truck mount to clean the ducts.  Can be very expensive but you will feel safe with them.

2.) Air Doctor - Don't know their address but here's their website... airdoctor.org   , it has a 1-800 number but they are locals.  They are certified by nadca.com/aboutnadca  (National Air Duct Association)  and listed by BBB.

3.) Sears - They do air duct cleaning too but their equiptment they use are not as high power as Kleen Air.  But their prices is reasonable.

4.) Reliable Air - They are based in Carmicheal... the guy that came to do an estimate seem like he was on crack so = NO!

I picked Kleen Air to do the job because the coin flip told me so haha... it was between Kleen Air and Air Doctor, Kleen Air was heads and Air Doctor was tails.  Coit also does air ducts too but don't know if they're any good.
