Don't hire migrant workers from Home Depot... That is illegal and a dumb ass suggestion.  How about a licensed mover?  There's an idea!  Labor rates are very inexpensive for most local movers and they are licensed, insured and will likely do the job much quicker than any migrant because they have proper tools and training.  You can try Discount Movers, Gorilla Movers, Priority Movers, or anyone else that shows up here on Yelp!.

You can also look at the California Moving and Storage Association's website for more info.  Good luck!

If the migrant worker has a temporary visa, it's not illegal to use the 'Sidewalk Employment Agency' to hire some casual labor.

And Charley, what kind of tools do you need to carry boxes?

I appreciate everyone's feedback.  I am really looking for the closest Home Depot with migrant workers near Mission Valley.  Charley makes a good point, yet I am free to hire whomever I want. THIS IS AMERICA and we have still certain freedoms inclusive of petitioning for work onthe street and hiring off the street.
It is a risk to hire people off the street, but that is why I have home property insurance and liability in case anyone gets injured.   In the past I have hired plenty of "licensed" contractors to work on my home, but that is no guarantee of the work being done right.  I still have t osupervise the job.
    .
Thank you al. I appreciate the time and thoughtfulness in replying.

Just be careful who you get. Last time I got a couple of guys to do some work, and the younger guy was drinking beer and smoking pot in my backyard he later got tired and wanted me to pay him. I said F you! I only paid for the couple of hours that he worked. Get one of the older fellows.

Thank you interesting man and Amanda.  The guys i got thanks to your feedback finished in 2 hours what I thought would take 4.
So I paid them $50 each and they were very happy.
It was 2 bedrooms worth of stuff and furniture up 3 stories with no elevator.

Aside from day laborers at Home Depots, Lowes and other home builder stores....you could try Manpower or Labor ready or just post ads on CL, backpage, etc. Careful about posting ads though, sometimes you get good folks and other times you get terrible folks. Personally I think it would be best to go with a legitimate staffing agency for that service or directly hire from a contractor or ask your neighbors or something.

its crazy how humans learn to carry themselves even  though they have a physical disability... someone may have a crippled hand, or missing teeth or whatever... and they learn how to behave and 90% of people around them dont realize it
