It seems like neighborhoods here have lost their identity and have been Overrun by those down and out .  For example a few years ago the Castro begin to change more families were moving in . Now a few years later they complain when they see. Quasi naked person walking down the street .but the homeless are bating under their window at night .

Basic answer, Most American population's IQ has declined below average. When IQ is low - The social norms and well-mannered behavior stop existing (basic concepts such as loud taking on phone, laughing, loud music, spitting ect)

If you look around whenever you live, you notice that these people are either borderline literate or high school level literacy with basic science/literature understanding. They have no clue where is Cameroon, or that there is total 5 oceans on Earth. They have never read Jack London or Mark Twain or Plato or Descartes.

Most of their interest revolves around luxury items or things that they want to poses ( I bet you see it a lot, young chicks in flip flops, moderately obese, with Louis Vuitton bags and fake long nails and eyelashes).

BMW and Mercedes Benz - back in the days these cars used to be luxury. Luxury means best and rare materials used and symbolism of high social class.
Nowadays, you see basically teenagers or suspiciously unemployed people driving X5. What happened?
    1. Quality went down the hill, car depreciation value drops dead as soon as it rolled out of a dealership. That wood that you see in BMW dashboard is slightly better of a cardboard or it could be a plastic painted like wood.
    2. cars leasing options could be available to almost anyone even with a bad credit.
    3. You can buy 5 years Old Mercedes for price of a new Corolla. So  Why I am drifting from the point? The point is that people can't tell difference between good quality stuff anymore. They have minds of peasants who just run for labels. Any many of these labels are fake too ( made in China).

General perception of entertainment is skewed too. Basically most of people in America are  CHRONOPHAGS. Here u go, learn some ancient Greeks.

The average reading level in the US to get by is 8th grade.

What a depressing thread. Most of the people I meet are well educated and articulate. The streets in my hood are clean and no one is masturbating outside our front doors. Perhaps it would be wise to pick a better place to live.

I try to see the world through my own eyes and not Fox or CNN. I think of each person as an individual and react to them that way rather than some obscure political statistic. I keep things personal. I am on a first name basis with many of the people that provide me with food and services.

Most of all, I truly care and take pride in my home and the people around me rather than some BS that is coming out of the idiot box.in order to sell advertising.

  1. I'm not quite sure what you mean by an identity crisis as a nation. People change and civilizations change.
As for the country's "place in the world", Trump's policy pulled it away from its defacto position of the flag bearer, and the power that the Allies could always rely on.

  2. But the positive I can think of is that Trump forced the NATO allies to wake up and look at themselves about picking up the slack. Trump's policy was probably the bitter pill they needed to swallow.

Hopefully Biden can take advantage of that and reassure them that the "old reliable friend is back" while pressing them to open their wallets and throw in their weight a little more.

I am tired of the US being Uncle Sucker. All the other developed countries can afford universal health care, because they are not spending more on their military than the other NATO countries combined.

    • 478 friends
    • 37 reviews

Agreed, we should decrease military spending and provide universal health care just like every other developed nation. Try convincing republicans, though

  3. The US military strength is the base upon which American businesses could spread their reach across the world unlike global corps from other countries.

The same oversized investment in NATO installations across the world is *most probably* the reason why the US has been the most insulated from external aggressions in the modern world.

So it's not like the country didn't get any returns on their military investments.

Hell forget the us spending millions on the military. Dude they spend more money on flying Mars rovers and experimenting on moving to Mars than you probably know. Smh... billions are spent on space discoveries meanwhile politicians get payed thousands weekly and cry when negotiating stimulus bills for the American people.

Joe, you live in a "gated" from California community.... end of story. I am in SF, LA, Oakland, Berkeley, Bakersfield ect

Ben H. It's not the republicans we worry about, it's corporate/lobbying entity that run both parties. Once you open universal health care Pandora box, you will be sharing a lot of taxpayers money to pharmaceutical and insurance companies, who thrive on "helicopter" money and overcharging fees. When Obama health care came in, many people saw that premiums jump to olympique levels.

Anytime, somebody tells you a great story about how they will help people, verify who runs the drill and who will be collecting. You are all grown enough to understand that "free" is only cheese in a mouse trap.

It's not an identity crisis. It's communist subversion of the American way of life. Some people fall for it and some don''t. These 2 groups may want to settle their differences before it becomes a real problem.

Ole: written like a true republican. Thanks for exemplifying my sentence dude

    • 770 friends

The premiums went up on Obama health care because the republicans held the bill up for ransom until it was too late to properly negotiate and the government had lost their leverage, which was exactly what the insurance companies wanted. Only an idiot like Micky D would dispute that.

The bill actually set limits and price controls for the first time in this country's history but most republican states refused to implement or enforce the patient bill of rights.

The government already pays for the insurance for people that don't work, it is the people in the lower wage jobs that do not have access to medical care until it is too late and people like Ole think that is all right. Somehow Ole thinks these people don't deserve medical insurance because it might cost the corporations they work for money only Ole doesn't mind his own medical insurance costing the company he works for. Typical republican double standard. Start making employers pay for their employee's medical and we can do away with this discussion because there will not longer be a need.

Go suck a fat one lord knows you need it ^

  5. The main fault of Obama was he entered in good faith and started by meeting them the middle. He lost negotiating leverage and what came out was a not fully baked bill that faultered on the financial side. The middle and lower middle class are paying the price for the weakness in the financial pillars supporting it.

    • 112 friends
    • 34 reviews

The main fault of Obama was that he was an idealist, and he believed good ideas would sell themselves. The "meeting them in the middle" tactic arose out of a belief that a show of good faith and understanding was all that was needed to reach the other side.

While the other side was playing hardball, Obama wasn't even playing softball. He was gently tossing Nerfballs, as one would to a toddler.

Thus Obama could accomplish things in Congress only his first two years, and that only when he had a filibuster-proof Senate majority.

    • 478 friends

Mike- Obama's main fault was having to deal with dickheads in Congress with attitudes like Wally, yt's very own dickhead ignoramus, as demonstrated here.

His years in the Senate taught LBJ how to manipulate it. His greatest foes were Southern senators from his own party. In contrast, Obama learned very little. I think one reason he picked Biden as VP was as mentor and guide to getting stuff done in the Senate. Instead, Biden became the Hugger in Chief.

  6. Obama is definitely not above criticism. But how can you fault a man (who arrived in good faith with good intentions) for the misdeed of the other party (whose gameplan was to deny and destroy the ACA)?

    • 478 friends
    • 37 reviews

Their game plan was to deny pretty much anything Obama tried to pass, no matter how good it was for America, which they later admitted to doing.

Club and destroy . We are going to lose out trade and exports to China  it's very black and white , Michael is right the US has taken this role of uncle to give out Money like Candy to countries that will trash us in the news .  Top officials ( Biden)  talks to Putin about increased troop and equipment south. Putin becomes very direct and

Making America again had nothing to do with restoring power to the upper class white people. It has everything to do with getting our blue collar worker out of poverty and restoring their dignity. We use to have the greatest working class on the planet because we took care of them until Ronald Regan and the trickle down economic destroyed our once great country. Fck trickle down economics. Fck the top .001% being legally able to rip off the country. Fck Micky D. Fck Bozo Bro. You are the enemy of the middle class.
