Plimer's been plugging this stuff for years. But all the work unrelated to the hacked emails still stands. Sure, one good press release sounds important if you think Al Gore's movie is the extent of the work, but most of the people working in the field really wouldn't give a shit.

  1. Of course it's a hoax. The email proved it for the world to see.

While we might be having an effect -- volcanoes, wildfires (that have gotten 'wilder' because we try to control them), and other normal bodily functions from good 'ole mother earth add up as well.  There have been countless warming and cooling cycles (many caused by those same forces listed above) in our earth's history.  We're but snot on a tissue in a stitch in time -- 10,000 years of human habitation vs. 4.5 billion years of earth's existence.  We'll not likely see another ice age in our lifetimes, but it WILL occur.  And will be followed by a warming period -- and so on, and so on, and so on...

First, generally, "global warming" is not a Hoax.
It is a theory that has caused unnecessary hysteria.   If you read between the lines, what you really have now is many scientists moving toward man-made "Climate Change".  That way, if the warming trend turns and the earth gets cooler they have covered all their bases.

Second, the planet is not doomed.  Maybe humans are, but the planet will survive no matter what we do.

Third, for those who say, so what -- we should embrace "global warming" because all ecology is good, you are not doing your homework.   If people like Al Gore had their way at best you deflect the negative impact onto something else.   Want electric cars?  How do you make batteries?  From the Elements and minerals.  Where do minerals come from?  The earth.  Where in the earth?  You DIG.   (Places like The Congo where they use child labor.)    Where do you dispose of used batteries?  What is the cost to dispose of them?  And so on!

The problem with global warming is everyone in Chicago, Buffalo, the whole midwest and New England are like 'BRING IT ON!'   Give me some cloroflorocarbons baby!

The real problem is alot of global warming advocates tried to state that the vast majority of the scientific community was fully in agreement that it was a real problem and manmade (well documented there is still tons of debate in the scientific community even by the non-biased, unsubsidized researches).  When you try and pull a fast one like that on people in this day in age when info is readily available online, you've lost the people who were on the fence as credibility is shot.

The Chron even babbled on recently for the need for "green energy"... yet no one seems to be able to do basic math. So if we double wind and solar power... we'll then go from them being 2% of our energy mix!!?? Oh goody!!

At the same time, they'll forget to mention that the Germans pay 300% of what we pay for electricity; while also paying $8 a gallon for gas.

Bill, I have a few questions for you... if you're up to it.

    1) Are you aware that the River Thames (which runs through London) used to freeze over in the winter, 300, 400, 500 years ago? So global warming ended that. Right?

    2) Why did it warm so much, with zero cars about?

    3) Isn't it true that the weather is constantly changing ... and no one can say, definitively, why it happens?

Why "refute it" ... when they are "trying to do some good"? Let me flip the questions to you...

    4) How will a 300% increase in electrical costs affect little old ladies? Poor folks?

    5) How will $8 a gallon gas affect the working poor? What damage will it do to the U.S. economy?

Isn't there a saying about the damage that can be caused by people who "try to do good"... "good intentions"...???

    Denise,
A news website that openly says it combats 'liberal' biased news. Really? That in itself makes it biased. That is enough agenda to not be valid. Let's switch it up a bit.

"Welcome to NPR, a project of the Media Research Center (MRC), the leader in documenting, exposing and neutralizing conservative media bias."

Bill, I have a few questions for you... if you're up to it.
    ____________
not really...wasting my time is low on my list. But since you feel like being patronizing, here we go.

I can cut and paste too Mark.

    1. I'll give you the connection with the Thames River (thanks for clarifying that it was in London) Dr. Dennis Wheeler, who did the research into old Naval records that you are referring to still contests that global warming still exists.

"Wheeler makes clear he has no doubts about modern human-induced climate change. He said: "Global warming is a reality, but what our data shows is that climate science is complex and that it is wrong to take particular events and link them to CO2 emissions. These records will give us a much clearer picture of what is really happening."

    2. He contested that while Co levels were not the cause in 1850, there is still reason to do research now. If it were up to folks like you, scientific research would be eradicated and explanations of our environmental condition would be left up the church. I think it's important enough to question.

    3. Yep, weather is constantly changing. Of course it is. But with your logic, any attempt to research why is some lefty plot. Basically, it's just information that you do not want to hear so you refute it. You can throw the Thames at me all you want but it's ONE body of water. OK, so maybe it's BS. Fine. Are you really THAT against better air quality? Now that is something that affects you and I'm sure you can say that is something you want. But, I'm sure you will argue that and say you love smog and that it's not unhealthy for you.

    4. How will electrical costs go up 300% for old ladies? BTW, Old ladies? The GOP loves to throw around 'old ladies' and 'mothers' when they want to it look like they give a shit...yeah, lefties hate old mothers. gethefukoutahere.

Anyway, I think you copied and pasted that old lady remark from here.
    climateprogress.org/2009…

They also say that solar panels emits heat back into the atmosphere. What?

    5. Gas is not 8 bucks a gallon. So what are you even talking about? With you logic alone, shouldn't we try to make cars that do not rely on fossil fuels?

So I was just reading this morning that a great many anthropologists believe that 12 percent (or more) of the amazon was directly created by Humans:

"Planting their orchards for a millennia, the first Amazonians slowly transformed large swaths of the river basin into something more pleasing to human beings. In the country inhabited by the Ka'apor, on the mainland southeast of Marajo , centuries of tinkering have profoundly changed the forest community. In Ka'apor-managed forests, according to Balee's plant inventories, almost half of the ecologically important species are those used by humans for food. In similar forests that have not recently been managed, the figure is only 20 percent. Balee cautiously estimated, in a wide cited article published in 1989, that at least 11.8 percent, about an eighth, of the non-flooded amazon forest was "anthropogenic" or directly created by humans."

    that is a mind fuck

But we REALLY need to get to the bottom of this moon-landing thing. It was all filmed in a studio, you know. Every single person who works for NASA has been covering it up for decades so they can continue to get funding.

Ever notice how the moon gets bigger and smaller? Sometimes, you can't even see it. THEY CAN'T EVEN GET THE SPECIAL EFFECT RIGHT!!!

Climate is constantly changing.  Been doing it for millions of years and will continue to do so long after we're gone.  Cycles.  Weather goes in cycles.  Ice core samples prove when the earth gets too warm, it cools itself down rapidly.  Vice-versa too.
Not worried.  Besides, there are six foot drifts of global warming back east right now.

From 1250 to 1300, there was extreme dought in the West.  If that happened now, we'b blame Global Warming.  Cycles.  Ever heard of snowball earth?  Entire globe covered in ice.  It's happened a couple of times.  It'll happen again.  Have a nice day and do your part but don't sweat something that's controlled by a source nobody fully understands called Earth.

Yes, the climate is changing- happens all the time. Yes, humans have made some damage to our planet! Yes, we can do a lot to fix and halt damage. No!!!!! There is no such thing as global warming. In the 70's it was global cooling for gods sake.
I hate it when people just eat what they are fed from our government.
Global warming is a term used to eventually tax the shit out of us. Al Gore OWNS the company that will be charging us for a carbon tax!!!! He will be profiting on 'global warming' ! Oh, and you better start figuring out how to CHARGE the environment for those carbon taxes, cause volcanos make more carbon than ANYTHING man has EVER created or pumped out!!!

I don't call being the sucker in a scam "pro-science".
    I call it gulibility.

    But that's just me.

    I have a wonderful idea!
Perhaps all the greens could write the word "SUCKER" on their foreheads in big red letters so we know not to trust their opinions on anything related to science.

    Works for me!

It seems to me, the only valid "controversy" which exists, is whether climate change is being caused by man made factors, or by nature. The fact it is happening is indisputable, unless it always snows in the gulf states region, and all those rocks in Antarctia which haven't seen the light of day in eons, and are now exposed by unprecedented melt off, or the vast shrinkage and disintegration of the ice caps at both poles are simply an hallucination which is suffered by billions of people and an overpowering majority of scientific consensus.

Hmm... I vote for the "Greenhouse Effect". Even if it's not the main reason for the change, WE'RE RUNNING OUT OF HYDROCARBONS TO BURN! Even if global warming is "hoax" and I don't believe it is, we must shift our energy sources to non polluting, sustainable means.

I also note, many of the "Hoax" promoters, seem pretty cozy with oil and coal companies and whatnot.

I'm all for people who want to lower their carbon footprint, have at it.
In fact I'd like to hear right now how you're living carbon neutral.

I don't believe us deniers should have to participate though.
