With all the killer deals these days on nice ass flat screen TVs, I'm sure a lot of you have recently purchased one.

To those that have gotten one, did you wall mount it or leave it a TV stand? I have mine on a TV stand, been doing that for years only because I tend to rearrange things often and it's just easier to move around. Plus I don't want a bunch of holes in the wall, but it does look nicer on the wall tho.

Mounted it on the wall and used a white cable tube thing to hide the cables somewhat.  Looks great.

I helped my old roomies mount their 46" I believe. It was pretty easy, make sure the mounting hardware is level and you don't accidentally drill into a stud or anything. then get a buddy to help you lift the TV and it just hooks right in.

If I ever wall mounted mine I'd probably get one that swivels and tilts, but keep in mind that those type of mounts tend to stick out a bit further than the regular non-moving ones.

please be sure to do all the safety checks you can if you do this.

a friend of mine lost his daughter because the television wasn't properly installed and it came crashing down on her.

i know, it's a horrific story. but i think it's an important one to share because most of the time you wouldn't think of something like that.

I have a 50" plasma and it was fine wall mounting.

You do need to mount onto studs though, how can you not?

^ Did he ask his daughter to help him lift the TV?

it's easy.... all you need is a drill, stud finder, and level for mounting on wall.  There are also tv stands with built in mounts.

I meant metal stud, like nails or screws inside the walls. But yeah it needs to be secured into the wall solidly.

  2. I prefer mine on a low-slung, tasteful, color-coordinated, wooden entertainment center.

I wall mounted a 32" LG all by myself and I hate doing stuff like that. The directions were very clear and it was quite easy. Drill 3 holes in studs, screw bracket into wall, screw bracket onto tv, mount tv onto wall bracket. I'm really glad I did it.

Buy the stuff from monoprice.com.  Way cheaper.  And be sure to screw the mount into STUDS (that's what he said?).

Pre drill the holes into the studs before using the lag bolts, otherwise you'll split the stud and then you'll be screwed.

My bracket has a little lock on it, you lock it on after you hang the TV onto the bracket.
