I'm bound by BART or car, and not very familiar with MUNI and too cheap for a taxi. How do you like to get around the city (besides walking)?

    BART, walking, and Biking.
The MUNI is way too crowded and nasty.

You need to make the MUNI trip planner your new best friend: transit.511.org/tripplan…
That tells you the best way to get anywhere in the Bay Area via public transit. I walk a lot, but when I need to get somewhere fast, I always check the trip planner.

MUNI or walking or cabs (if drunk). Unfortunately, I don't live in a BART accessible neighborhood. I miss that!

    Intoxicated.

Otherwise, by walking, bike or cab. MUNI = shame train. Except for the Muni Metro stretch under Market.

Muni/Walking for the majority of the time, sometimes BART (if I'm going to the Mission).  City CarShare and taxis are a last resort.

I wish I had a chauffeur.  Right now it's riding the smelly Muni or expensive cab.  But it beats walking!  I absolutely refuse to drive unless I have no other choice.

How safe is it to walk around SF at night (SOMA, Castro, Mission?)

    • 160 friends
    • 172 reviews

SOMA and Mission ain't really the nicest neighborhoods to walk around.

I'm confident that you can, you just have to be alert and street smart.  Be aware of your surrounding.  Suspicious people and activities, notice the hoods and local drug peddlers and users.  Act normal (unless normal means goofy and walkin really fast).

If you do that, you should be just fine.

As for me, I usually drive, but a nice walk is always good.  Prior to my car, BART and MUNI were my best friend.  The good ole 14, 26, 33, and 22 were my MUNI of choice.  BART to downtown.  Man, I kinda miss those days.

My only vehicle is a 50 seater tour bus which I ride alone. I always park in front of your house taking up 6 parking spots. I often double park on Van Ness and Mission St during rush hour. Lastly I make 3 left turns rather than make right turns because I am not an ambi-turner.

I don't like to get around the city.  It's neither car nor equestrian friendly.

my shitty Honda is your typical beat up city car... primer, dents but its paid off and my insurance is cheap.  I'm just dreading the next smog test....do you know some place where they take bribes?

mostly I walk or MUNI it.  MUNI is confusing and irritating at times... be whoa so convenient.

Jes you and Carla should get a 75 caddy and pimp it out. You could call it the ho mobile and get fuzzy dice too. That would kick ass.

Besides walking, I like to BART it, ride my bike, Flexcar yelp.com/biz/tbFKyylBwqG…

but if I ever give up and decide to drive, I'm gonna buy a UPS truck. Then I can park anywhere I want, as long as I want, and laugh at all of the other vehicles on the road. Mwah ha ha ha!
