non-app based alternatives to Uber for short-term towncar hire in SF?

I need to hire a towncar or some other nice conservative sedan (not a taxi!) for about 15 minutes, to get from Nob Hill to the Presidio.  Problem is, I don't use cell phones, so I can't use Uber.   (Same goes for Sidecar and Lyft, which are all app-based.)  Also, I'm wary about Uber's "no reservations" policy; it's essential that the car show up when requested.

Most limousine services have 2 hour minimums or the like, which is NOT what I need.  My budget is $40 or less, inclusive.

Is there a service out there that provides short-run towncars that can actually be booked in advance and will show up on time?

Yeah, there are lots of town car services like that.  I'm not sure of what they charge for such a short run, but try Kosmo Limousine or Skyline Limousine.

Oh, and Mister H. -- Yelp stays at home on my desktop, to be used only when _I_ choose to use it, whereas a cell phone would follow me wherever I go, with people being able to reach me no matter where I am.

The more plugged-in that society gets, the more I value being able to be unreachable, and alone with my thoughts or able to focus entirely on what I'm doing, rather than always having it in the back of my mind that someone might call and interrupt me.  (And no, simply turning off a cell phone isn't the same thing since, if people know you have one and aren't picking it up, it's borderline insulting to them.)

Way back in the 1920s, a fellow named Scott Nearing (look up his Wiki) wrote this in a book: "The telephone is a real intrusion -- an impertinence -- summoning one like servant to any casual call."  It was true then; it's even more true now.

Somewhere in my early 30's i broke the ingrained "need" to answer the phone when it rang. I let the answering machine (voice mail now) do it's job. It was probably motivated by avoiding an angry ex-GF. I rarely answer the phone, and never if i don't recognize the number. It's such a insidious leash, developed when you raced your sibling to a ringing phone..

Syphilis?  Pfffffff...   Strictly for punters.  Now, consumption -- *there's* a disease you can set your watch to!

I have consumption.  I'm waiting for the dramatic weight loss to happen any day now.
