Well,  last minute I decided I wanted to stay 1-extra day over in Northern California to take in a tour of either Livermore's wine area or the Napa Valley Wine country tour.

    I found these links:

    hoponthewineline.com

    viator.com/San-Francisco…

    And experiences by Airbnb

    airbnb.com/s/Livermore--…

A friend of mine in the wine business was just rhapsodizing about the Steven Kent winery in Livermore. Steven is a Mirassou who can't use his family name on rhe bottles.
Wente Brothers is the historic Cresta Blanca winery
And Concannon Sauvignon Blanc is good.

  1. Oooh do it!  Also, take a bike ride around the wineries in Livermore! Before imbibing, of course. I prefer cycling there over running, though.

We're a bit snobby up here in Napa Valley. Not sure if you can handle the plentiful flavors that are so exquisite to the pallet.
Castillo di Amerosa is on the fav list.
    Sterling second
    Beringer third
    Bottoms up!

Napa is not what it once was. Heitz sold out to some Texan, and lost the grapes from Martha's Vineyard. Robert Mondavi and his wife are gone, the winery owned by some corporation. Even Rollie Heitz, who started a label by buying grapes and renting space in an existing winery, pulled up stakes and moved to Italy. It is no longer a down-to-earth, ag-centric region. But there are still bright spots:

When I first heard of Rombauer Chardonnay, it was described to me as "the pantydropper." Rombauer is or was an airline pilot, related to the Joy of Cooking Rombauers.

Things I loved for years, even decades, no longer exist or have drastically changed.

Why can't I mourn these losses?
