Pies in general tried this year but couldn't take off like predicted since its more of a seasonal trend.

  1. Food trucks giving way to cafeteria / vending machine style gourmet food store fronts. All the goods without human interaction.... I can only dream.

  2. Have artsy fartsy hotdogs caught on here? There's a new little shop that opened in the Avenues, but they are dead dead dead all the time...

I say the next big food fad of 2012 will be that little hunk of fat in a can of pork 'n' beans. Let's see how long it takes for the hipster foodies to go back and edit their blogs from September so that they can say they were into it before anyone.

I think we can add "Plagarism:  It is what is for dinner"  to you list of the up and  coming, boring, thought and originality free foods for "thought" that will be sweeping the nation in 2012.  right?

Can tell us more about this burger migration?  How has it been rampining up, and why is  2012 the year?  What are the new burger hotspots, the trend setting styles, and where are they migrating to?  Why?  are there economic reasons?  is it the internet?  the new hovercraft technology fom Latvia?  drop. Yes, damned all those world renowned chefs, err I mean hillbillies and their foie gras.  It's fine if you don't care for the stuff, but when you start telling other people that they can't eat a food that's been a staple in gastronomical history for 4,000 years, just because YOU are squeamish, well then you're just being an asshole.  Foie gras will still be had at any number of places in California off menu, just as it was in Chicago after the ban, before common sense and good taste prevailed when they ended the ban.
