Here's a question for anyone that knows rent control and the law.
First, the background: I've been domestic partners with a wonderful guy for over 4 years and living with him. He's been in the same apartment for 20 years. At the time we registered with the city as domestic partners we also added my name to the lease for the apartment. At the time of signing we were told that if he passed away the rent control would go away. Recently though I've been told otherwise since we are DPs.
Well, he passed away a few days ago and now I'm concerned that the rent control will go away. Will I be able to keep it since we were registered domestic partners with the city? Everyone I talk to tells me it won't happen.9/3/2012 -

As long as you are on the lease, you should be fine.
Call the SF Tenant board to get information, just in case.9/3/2012 -
