Don't bother with Schwan's Ice Cream delivery. I was at the Salinas airshow and had a pretty decent ice-cream sandwich from Schwan's, which specializes in home delivery frozen food products. My friends in Illinois use them and I was excited to see that they serviced northern California now. ZZsssst: wrong move.  The delivery man no-showed and no one bothered to call.  Next time, I'll rely on my old stand by - Haagen-Daz.

BTW My other half laughed his ass off when he heard the name of the company.

My sister and I have the same Schwann guy.  Difference is, she actually opens the door for him and lets him in her house around her kids whereas I don't even bother answering the door for him.  My kids get a very uneasy feeling about him and frankly, I understand it.  My sister's neighbor was sitting in her car talking on her phone in front of her house one night when he came by, and he couldn't see that she was there.  Well, Mr. Schwann guy took a leak in my sister's front yard.  And she doesn't live in a trailer park.  The pathetic part is that she totally welcomes the pig in her house so it's not like he wouldn't have felt comfortable asking to use her bathroom.  She'd probably let him have a sleep over if he wanted to.

He's just creepy and icky and not welcome at my house.

Is it that hard to walk down to the corner store to pick up some ice cream?  Or shoot on over to Bi-Rite if you want *good* ice cream?

We've had good luck with the ice cream bars -- especially the root beer float bars.  They are perfect.  But I know what people mean about the delivery.  We used to have an adorable delivery guy -- very sweet, polite, he'd load everything in my freezer for me -- not an easy task -- it's like playing Jenga.  However, he was transfered to Manteca and the delivery guy now is kinda creepy.  He shows up at 10:30 for deliveries, and he has incredibly strong B.O.  I stopped ordering because I don't like my doorbell ringing at 10:30 at night, and I don't care how good the ice cream is...  

I think Schwan's needs to hire some clean-cut types, and give them the basic of hygiene discussion.
