    ....vacuum cleaner.

I changed the belt, I cleaned the fark out of everything int the sucker, took it apart and everything, put it all back together all nice like. And now it sucks great but smells awful like burning and makes me escary (that's how my mom says it) to turn it back on.
    What's wrong with it?

So the sucker decided until I bought a new belt and after I spent so much time cleaning it to electrocute me? \

Gil, the cats are outside the window whining to get back inside but I'm not letting them in

There might be hair on the edge of the brush where it attaches to the vacuum. Also when the vacuum is on flip it over to make sure that the brush is spinning freely. Look at all the moving parts. The burning has to be something moving rubbing against something stationary. Since you just took it apart double check all of that.

I wish I had an elephant vacuum cleaner like in the Flintstones. Al thought that would be an awful lot of elephant poo to have around the house.

    I'll triple check J.D. thanks.

This reminds me of the time many years ago when I was working for a landscaping company and was mowing a clients lawn. Most lawn services (we call them mow & blow) also use a gas blower to blow the debris around but our company didn't.

So the client comes out and asks real loud; "Do you guys blow"?
To which I yelled back; "No, but we do suck."

I know, I know but I'm old school. I tend to fix things rather than just live in this disposable world of cheaply made crap designed to break in a year, but I may have to get a new one.

I'd take a look at the belt to see if it is slightly melted - and make sure there are no stray hairs on the rollers it attaches to. Friction is bad, it causes heat, melts rubber, and makes a burning smell. Also, once you melt a belt a belt, it leaves bits behind which can contribute to future melting of belts and bad smell.

Poe if it is sucking and the motor sounds normal it probably isn't something electric.

John I cleaned the brush heads of any hair and it never smelled like this when it was coated with hair but I I will check again.

    Motor runs and sounds normal
    Sucks just fine
    New belt turns
Have cleaned all parts including brush heads
    Has new bag

I'm off to probe my sucker further. Thanks for the tips.

What John B. said, but not what Uncle Steve said.

Also, I would bet that it is some longer fiber, like a big thread or some dental floss or something that got wound tightly in there.  Finger around and see what you feel.

are you burning inside? if so, fingering around can cause more burnage, especially in the space between the connector slots and the brush heads, where the AXLE bar is located.

  2. Sounds like the harmonic warbolizer may be defective.

Miss Poe, I just messaged you the suck data, decided to review the place.

    yelp.com/biz/f-and-h-vac…

The guy who runs this place is a really nice guy, does great work for a fair price. He repaired my shop vac and gave me very specific advice on upkeep, talked me out of an add-on that would have been easy money for him. And he laughed at my dumb jokes! (that's good, right?)
