Wait, Kris is gone again? That sucks. She's cool. I'm not-so-secretly jealous of her hella clean car.

Kris was our den mother, a true voice of reason. But when Taylor quit yelp, Kris thought it was a great idea, and disappeared as well.

The den mother had her own irl problems to deal with.  She really wasn't as large and in charge as ya think.  Remember... everyone you meet is fighting a battle.  And you have no idea what they are actually going thru.....

I'm not sure what that comment means.
Is Paul saying that Kris was not a voice of reason? Her takes on situations always seemed to be based on reality. Her advice, when solicited, always seemed sound. After 20 years on the Internet, I like to think I can spot the BS artists, and those who merit a diagnosis from the DSM.

Is Paul saying that Kris was not in any sense our den mother? I was thinking in terms of the squabbles that keep breaking out here.

But I do agree that everyone we meet is fighting a battle, and quite likely leaving here gave Kris more time to deal with any IRL problems she might have had.

Kris has probably found serenity hiking in West Marin, somewhere in Muir Woods or Pt. Reyes NS. Beholding the sunset from atop Mt. Vision, then dropping by Sir&Star in Olema. Sometimes you have to fast from Yelp for awhile to enjoy life. That's what I do on vacation... avoid Yelp completely. Be here.... now.

"Kris is gone with the wind :(   It's been mighty lonely without her touch, smell, infectious laugh. All I have is a few hair strands I managed to collect from the bed."

I hope you at least got a smelly finger out of the deal.

Ah. If I idealized Kris this is what I would have said:

Kris is a goddess, a shooting star, a chick possessing the wisdom of Solomon, a lean, mean, hiking machine, etc.
