So I am in San Fran and was wondering if anyone had any good ideas on what to do here, I've done the typical things already like fishermans warf, Alcatraz Etc. I want to do something that's more a local thing any recommendations?

Looks like you're with your family. Go to the Haight Asbury area to window shop, then walk on to GG Park. If its near dinner time, eat at Cha Cha Cha at corner of Haight and Stanyan.

What Jack H said. Go to Bi-Rite market right by Dolores and pack a picnic of goodies to take with you and your friends. Also, the hiking is amazing if you're into outdoors activities, check out Muir Woods, there is a trail that puts you out with a view of Stinson Beach (which is also gorgeous).

Do what locals do? Like eat out of trash cans or go to Chinatown to get your jewelry "blessed"?
Have you gone to the museums yet? Academy of Sciences and Asian Art Museum are my favorites. You could also rent bikes and check out GG Park. Go shopping at Westfield Mall downtown, lots of stores and restaurants there, even a movie theater and a day spa, basically everything you need!7/25/2013 -
Go see BEACH BLANKET BABYLON & hangout at the Filmore (Pacific Heights) good local jazz clubs there.
Go to Golden Gate Park and look for people playing volleyball/badminton and join in.
Go to Ocean Beach and just chill and listen to the waves.
Take the subway and trolly and be a "San Franciscan!"
Keep us posted and hope you are enjoying the city.7/29/2013 -

Take Caltrain and go to Stanford, wonderful campus. Visit the particle accelerator while you are there and be amazed.
On your way back, stop in San Mateo, walk around B Street and grab a bite, then Caltrain back to SF.
There is your day.7/30/2013
