Does anyone recommend a good watch repair place in SF?. I have a Tag Heuer that needs a few fixes and I've getting repair costs estimates around $800

    Hey,

I apologize I cannot answer your question as I have not had my watches repaired locally, but I can recommend a great, honest and reliable watchmaker I have been using for years who is out of state. I mail him the watches (insured and tracked) and he fixes and returns them.

    chronotekinc.com

    100% reliable.

Incidentally, if your watch is a pricey automatic, $800 might be accurate, especially if you've never had it oiled and serviced. Quality watches need maintenance every few years depending on the movement, brand and use. Just a service for an expensive watch can be hundreds of dollars, it's like tuning a pricey sports car.

    What model Tag is it?

    These local places seem good:

    yelp.com/biz/clock-world…

    yelp.com/biz/marcello-wa…

Good luck, and keep me posted.

    David P. says:
    "What model Tag is it?"

This is like a couple of tots comparing pee pees.

Or people comparing cars, jewelry, handbags, art, food, coffee, beer, entertainment and political opinions. Everybody has different interests and different ways we like to spend our money.

The reason I'm asking is because if it's likely a pricey model and $800 would be reasonable depending on the work needed. But thank you for your input.

Jordan, good info.  I have a Movado that needs a cleaning and new watch band, as well as an Omega platinum and diamond wristwatch (circa 1930's) that needs some repair.  I will definitely check out this shop - thanks!

You're welcome. Chronotek totally rebuilt a tag for me that I got as a gift 22 years ago
