In some soup, you can add the onions a little later. No frying involved.

I agree Umesh. I like to fry some of my onions and garlic and then add others later. It gives you a fuller flavor. The same goes for my herbs and spices.

Shrimp scampi is so yummy. One of the first things I learned. It switched from shrimp scampi to fish scampi (back then it was butter fish aka black cod/sablefish) from time to time.

Joe, by default I already cook more during gatherings. Learning with pops,  it was always in large quantitys. So I continued that style. My guests don't mind as they get to have their own doggie bags or to go boxes :)

CDD kitchen to be open soon in my dreams. ....we'll the soup kitchen. If I had a food  truck , I want to be the soup princess :) and have summers off.

Yum, cream of artichoke. I usually do a winter squash soup for either hanksgiving or Xmas, but this might be a great addition.

My coworker the mad Hungarian built his own smoker out of a firebox he fabricated and a defunct fridge.
He was a cheap bastard. Living in the country, he had a propane tank that looked like a submarine.

The tank grew too old to be certified, and thus the supplier would not refill it.  So, my coworker decided to switch the heating system from propane to fuel oil.

Don't know the hazards of either, but isn't fuel more likely to start a fire. I have only a propane tank for my
SRG and camping stove. I use butane for tabletop cooking.

@ Jenny - how can it be fish and chips if there isn't any fricken chips?

It is easy to go from  propane to natural gas. I did it on one of my BBQs a while back. You need to have the right  safety valves CDD. The problem with things like smokers is they tend to leak so you have to make sure you turn off the gas supply when you are not using them.
