What's your coffee routine? Are you a Starbucks addict, or do you patronize your favorite local shop? Do you use the Krups at work or use your French press at home?

I am Jack's lack of shame about answering my own post.

I buy my beans at Barefoot, grind them in a Burr grinder and brew via drip filter cone directly into my mug. If I have to go out I'll brew into a thermos instead. I don't have a favorite bean/roast, I just go in and see what's fresh (you know, everything) and take my pick of single-origin beans. Sometimes one of the baristas gives a recommendation and they are right.

I am a huge snob about my coffee. I may be unemployed, but I will not stoop to bad coffee.

I better get a job soon or I'm fucked.

  1. I have a little black and decker one-cup coffee maker that I use a few times every morning, with Gevalia.  I tried the pod coffee makers, but I prefer to measure my own, to my own tastes.

I do enjoy coffee at local coffee shops, loathe Starbucks... I mean I loathe the actual coffee, not just the fact that even I could throw a rock from one Starbucks to the next.  I don't drink froofroo-ccino's, just coffee, which probably makes a difference in my opinions.

  2. I don't grind my own anymore.  Aside from just being lazy in the mornings, I can't manage to be consistent on how fine I grind it, so have to adjust my measurements accordingly.  I guess I pay the price in freshness, but I haven't noticed too much.

Love the morning coffee!! husband grinds beans the night before. We usually purchase the large 2 lb. Starbucks from Costco, but not always. We have a Cuisinart coffee maker with a timer. So, it starts brewing about 1/2 hour before we get up. Love to wake up to the smell of coffee wafting through the house. First thing I do is grab a cup, add some hald and half and sit down to email and yelp.

I used to but Costa Rica beans from this little place in Oregon but they are only doing crappy blends now. Now, I use Narsai David's premium blend coffee beans, grind them , brew a pot for myself every morning. I am still looking for the ultimate smokey Costa Rican again. And people keep telling me I need to cut down on the coffee.....what are they, nuts???

    2 tbs half-and-half
    Pour coffee

Oh......my.......heaven.   Two to three cups in the morning and I'm good to go.  If I don't get my coffee?  Better stay outta my way cuz I'm gonna bite your head off!

Ohhh.....Linda "JuRae" L. your vanilla sugar sounds amazing! Those are the same beans we use. I bet it's good! :-)

  3. I am in charge of arranging coffee service so I order Starbucks coffee for our employees. There is one downstairs in our plaza, but I only go there for a no room americano or a red eye when I am having a bad morning. I like my coffee black and bold.  My coffee maker broke so on weekends- I hit up 7 eleven or Starbucks. People think I'm crazy when I tell them that  I like 7 eleven coffee! I take about 3 of the Dulce De Leche creamers in my 7 eleven coffee and I'm good :)

When i have time, I like to make my own mocha:
    1. microwave organic nonfat milk
    2. grind Peet's coffee beans
    3. make espresso
    4. combine the hot milk with high quality chocolate (60% cocao) and make foam simultaneously using a battery-run foamer
    5. combine all and enjoy!

Thank you for the very long ago post on my vanilla-sugar!  (My bad, I'm not good about following threads!)  Hope you give (gave) it a try and like(ed) it.  BTW:  I get my vanilla beans through sfherb.com.  Four oz (approximately 1 dozen fresh, vacuum sealed beans) for $17.50 (the do have something like a $30 minimum order, tho).  I also store my beans in a large hinged-canning jar, covered with vodka.  The beans stay soft and over a long period of time, the vodka turns into really good vanilla extract!  (To use the beans, just snip and end and squeeze the seeds out!)   Enjoy!

I'm a coffee addict. Of course, there aren't any good coffee shops near where I live, and my kitchen is too small for a decent coffee machine... so I'm stuck with Starbuck's. Yesterday, I walked over there, got some drinks, got them into my apartment complex, up my stairs, and as soon as I walked in the front door and shut it behind me, the coffee became unbalanced, tipped over, and spilled EVERYWHERE, and I stood there amidst a lake of iced (fortunately) coffee, crying my eyes out til the boyfriend came and cleaned it all up.

I make my own with Barefoot beans and Rancilio hardware.  Espresso and latte only.

  4. We got a French press last year for camping, it's awesome!!

Starbucks iced coffee, extra cream for the workday, and Kona coffee from our Hawaii trip on the weekends (My preeeeecious)-

I haven't been able to find a true non-blend 100% Kona around here or even online...guess we have to go back soon to get some more! In the meantime we have been trying other types of beans, there's a lot smoother and less roasted coffee out there than what Starbuck's makes so it's been fun exploring- coffee is my friend.

Silliest allergy EVER...I'm allergic to coffee...darn it!
Can't drink it, yet I do the fumes!
When my man's coffee brews, I inhale deeply and enjoy every whiff!

BTW- it is an allergy I developed and came down with about 10 years ago...
probably because I overdid it on java.
Be careful, so you coffee lovers don't have to suffer the silly coffee allergy!

Sun - how do you ever expect to become a part of the Coffee 'Elite' if you're allergic, hon? :)  Like, what's the substitution for coffee?  (Liquid substitution!)

I'm allergic to alcohol, but I'd take the alchohol allergy any day over a coffee allergy.

Gotta run, the water for the French press is boiling............................ (omg!  I'm so bad, sorry Sun, you know I adore you!:)

That's exactly how I rock my coffee.  Though if people are over, I bust out the french press.  Love the coffee from Barefoot.

    barefoot bean I recommend:
    caffeine - Element 114
    decaf - Sumatra Gayoland

I have not tried their artisan stuff yet since it's out of my price range @ $35/tin but the above is pretty darned good already.

Any Peet's coffee will do for me.  We press at home in the morning and then switch to tea in the evening (i know different board).  JessEca - Peet's sells 100% Kona...it's a bit pricy but, a nice treat every once in a while.

Love my Bialetti espresso pot!  Make's one large shot of espresso right on my stove top.  I microwave milk and add some chocolate syrup and then add the espresso and I have a great tasting mocha.  Bialetti pot was $39.00 - a great deal for an espresso maker!

These are wonderful gadgets!  I use mine for Affogatto's - a shot of espresso over ice cream (we prefer vanilla).  A nice change from dessert on a warm evening.
