I'm in desperate need of a 2 wheel tire alignment. I've been putting it off and putting it off and after  a shitty tire rotation from Firestone in Hayward I've now got a wobbly steering wheel and can't stand it anymore. I've read the average price is $30-80, does anyone know a place in the east bay and have a quote per chance?

Wal-mart does cheap alignments. Alignment will usually just correct your car being 'pulled' left or right if you let go of the steering wheel.

You might need a tire balance if it's causing vibrations while you're driving. Those are relatively cheap too. They add weights to the inside of your wheels and it will balance it to make it more true and smoothen out the ride.

If you brake and your car shutters, it might be a sign of worn brake rotors.

Take a look at the tires - they may have worn unevenly due to lake of alignment, balancing, or rotating.  If they have, it may be difficult to get ride of the vibration until you replace tires.  If balancing doesn't work, and you don't want to pay for an alignment, you may want to have the tires "unrotated" back to the way they were and at least try to get rid of the vibration that way.

of course I meant "lack" instead of "lake" and "rid" instead of "ride"....

    if you have cheap tires
like FEDERALS, Kirklands, etc they will often pull to one side
    How worn are your tires?
if they are getting old now would be the time to get new tires and an allignment

for tires i have a buddy who runs a shop, I would just try to get americvas tire to price match inter prices

I get my allignments done at wheel works
they use a HUNTER which is a machine that has lasers
its the best way to do an allignment
some shops have the older dial type which work
but not the same as the new technology
