    It depends on how far you're willing to venture - I love Milano on Denman (yelp.ca/biz/milano-coffe…) in the West End.

    For regular coffee, we drop in to Urban Fare on Alberni Street. Of course, the fabulous pastries are the perfect partner to coffee.

    Cafe Artigiano - their regular drip is the only one in town where I don't add cream or sugar because it tastes so good plain.

    I actually went to Milano a couple of times and was quite unimpressed.

    There's JJ Bean on Alberni and Bute.  Nice new store, the second floor is great for people watching.  I love their lattes.  For me it's a tie between Artigiano's and JJ for best latte, they're both very good.
