    Hey folks! !
I'm heading to San Diego, anyone have any hot tips - where I shouldn't miss (or miss eating)?
Staying in the Bankers Hill/Little Italy area and will have a car.

Thanks for your help, in advance!

    Hey Rebecca,

Having been to San Diego personally but i'd definitely suggest posting the same shout out on the SD Talk Threads for some cross border Yelp love!

If you are staying near Little Italy, I highly recommend Craft and Commerce, also the USS Midway was a good place to spend a few hours.

I would suggest you take the Hop On Hop Off tour, stop by the water across from the Holiday Inn closest to Little Italy but check their site for route. We took the first bus and got a really good tour of the city and when we came around, we spent time at the Coronado where they have falcons at the open area by the garden to warn off the seagulls from pooping on you.  The tour guide also told us about Balboa Park, which have so many museums, most of them free. Also, Old Town is great to spend an afternoon enjoying shows and drinking margaritas. Also, the last and start stop of the Hop On/Hop Off bus, so there is one every 30 minutes.

There is also the Redlight district, very vibrant and alive when it's dark, lots of eateries and bars.

Also the Hop On/Hop Off have better deals for admissions to USS Midway.

Restaurants - Mamas Baker and Deli in North Park - 4237 Alabama Street, has great, cheap Lebanese food and a nice outdoor seating area for a sunny day.  There is great Ethiopian food in SD due to a big Somali population.  There is a good Friday night Ethiopian buffet at Harar Ethiopian Restaurant at 2432 El Cajon Blvd in North Park.  Fairouz Cafe has a great, cheap lunch buffet of Lebanese food at 3166 Midway Drive in Midtown.  There is a nice Indian lunch buffet close to Horton Plaza at Gourmet India 810 Fourth Street but don't go on Monday it is not as good.  If you are looking for super healthy food in Ocean Beach try the deli at Ocean Beach People's Co-op at 4765 Voltaire Street.  The co-op is vegetarian so you get a nice selection of veggie and vegan food in the deli as well as nice baked goods.  I have not ventured into Mexican food in SD but one very popular place is Ranchos Cochina in North Park at 3910  30th Street.  I have spent several months in SD over the past few years so these are my favourite places.  Happy eating!  Have a nice trip.

Ears must be burning...was just there this summer. I can post a list. Did not review a lot of places but was too busy having fun. The air craft carrier and folk singer's restaurant are two must sees; also the hilton is in the best location. Also found a great breakie place known for their pb French toast if you look them up on yelp. I'll try to find the names but you can google them. Those r my top three picks thus far. Also, eat on the water in la jolla for lunch but don't stay there.

The folk place is jazzy and an older crowd but fun and funny to people watch great food too and a yelp check in offer--so glad I went there.

JRDN Restaurant at the ground floor of the stylish Tower23. SD's version of STK or Black + Blue but located beachfront.

Ivy at the Gas Lamp District for nightlife and the Intervention Sunday pool party at the Hard Rock SD during summer.
