One of the things I show people when they first visit Vancouver is the city at night from Cypress lookout. A few other options are Stanley Park, Lynn Valley Suspension Bridge, or, if you're into a more commercial version, Capilano Suspension Bridge.

The quay is pretty cool! Stanley park is also an awesome place!

  1. You mentioned you were visiting soon so you'll probably have some good weather.  (hopefully)
I second Gastown, Granville Island and Stanley Park.  If the weather is warm enough, visit Kits Beach for some relaxing beach time.

Bike the sea wall... It is a MUST!

Lynn canyon suspension bridge and a nice hike, gorgeous!

Driving the sea to sky highway to Squamish for breakfast and back.... Or make it a day trip to Whistler on a sunny day the peak to peak is breathtaking!

For the downtown experience the fairmont pacific rim lobby early evening is stunning, joe fortes chop house is a Vancouver institution (get the seafood tower), gas town has an abunce of super cool spots for cocktails and dinner, in Chinatown hit the keefer bar for a rad burlesque show on Thursday nights... Go early!

These are my top "to do"
West End/Seawall walk from English Bay around Stanley Park - for nature/people watching
Main St (King Edward to Broadway) - for shopping, cool restos
Granville Isl - food, people watching, awesomeness
Cypress Mtn/Hollyburn - for nature/hike/snowshoe or Lynn Canyon for easier walk
    Gastown - walking/historic/food/cool shops
Trout Lake Farmers Market - saturday - gret food, local products
