Hi Kelly. Given you're aided by the mighty $US dollar.. consider stepping it up a bit.
If you want blow your mind Japanese, (and if they have space), check out Masayoshi and do the omakase (pronounce oh-ma-kah-see.. it means put yourself in the chef's hands). Sit at the sushi bar if you can. I'd recommend to call ahead to make a reso and tell them in advance you want the omakase if you want it.
Similarly there's Tojo's (where the chef previously worked).
There's also West, Le Crocodile, L'Abattoir, Hawksworth, Yew (at Four Seasons).
