I don't know what it is about the beginning of summer, but it always has me craving some good grilled grub! Now that I'm sans-balcony, I'm thinking that I'm going to have to head out to restaurants more often than usual to satisfy my itch for that grilled flavour. So it's got me wondering -- where are your favourite places to get the best BBQ?

Oh robin....  I feel your pain. Burgers etc usually has a good BBQ plater. Of course the food will taste better after a few vodkas. I also wood like to know of some other great BBQ joints. Luckily I do have a BBQ still and loves me some ribs, ranch-chops, or a roast. Mmmm mmmm.

I've never been! I (finally!) made my first trip to Peckinpah the other day, but other than that (and Korean BBQ, which I love so very much) I feel like a newbie when it comes to BBQ in Vancouver.

Although it's delicious Korean BBQ isn't real BBQ In my mind.( "shabusan"  great times). Memphis blues is alright.  I think I'm gonna make some ribs this weekend. I have also been planning a ten animal burger. I might just give that a try too.

Migz on Broadway in Kits isn't the greatest, but it also isn't too bad. They always have a lot of decent specials and I think they have a 2-for-1 coupon in the Entertainment Book if you want to go with a friend for some cheap bbq eats.

Hmm, methinks we need more southern BBQ in Vancouver...

Ok  it's gonna be a double burger. Now the one patty with 4 land animals, one patty with 4 bird type animals, bacon and cheese  that's ten!!  I could go epic and make it 15 or so animals with a seafood appy. What do ya think about that???

It seems like it may be a character building exercise. Plus I am a habitual bad decision maker. The idea was spawned from a combo or liquor and bacon wrapped leftover pizza and then battered and fried.

A favorite of mine is grabbing take-out from Memphis Blues and eating greasy food in a park somewhere.

@Barry, BBQ and parks go hand in hand! I love the idea of getting take-out and going to chill on the grass. What's *the* thing to order from Memphis?

Everyone here seems to assume that steaks and ribs are more worth marinating and grilling than anything else. When I was in Arizona on a recent holiday, BBQ ribs were appealing and made a lot of sense. Over here, I'd rather grill prawns or fresh fish or Saltspring lamb or even asparagus. It's not that I want to overlook burger, ribs or steaks, but they certainly haven't cornered the market on BBQ.

As for take-out, I have a soft spot for BBQ duck from Chinatown, going back to my days as a poor student.

Chong Lee market on 22nd has racks of ribs they do just like normal BBQ pork. They are cheap and delicious but are almost always sold out. Don't forget to BBQ some corn too.

How about Samba? I haven't been there but it has been suggested to be due to my love of meat...

Sambas is pretty kick ass. It's best to go when it's busy. The staff brings around meat more often. Also the show on the weekend is interesting. There are more choices swell on fri sat night.

@Robin *the* thing to do is find 5 or 6 of your closest hungry friends and get the 'Elvis Platter'.
Your stomach will thank me.  And then later hate me.

What type of Southern BBQ are you looking for? Memphis Blues although ironically named, serves Texas style BBQ. In fact, their brisket is the best I've had since my last time in the USA.

Best since the last time you were in the US? Crazytown! Them's some big words Jeff. I'm just looking for authentic, local, tasty BBQ. In the meat variety, preferably ;)

Re-up is the bomb. Period. Why did it take me so long to go??

Re-up is brilliant for putting a cart right outside the Biltmore on Saturday nights. Best post-drinking and -dancing food.
