Making the decision to eat sushi is easy.... while picking where to eat from is... not so easy! I love going out for sushi... but sometimes, I'd rather eat it in the comfort of my home. (Perhaps with a glass or two or three of wine!)

So what's your favourite neighbourhood place to pick up some take-out sushi?

You know the one -- your local, hole in the wall that you go to when you're craving something quick, cheap and cheerful. The one that makes you go, "Ahhhh that hit the spot."

Asakusa on Kingsway across from the Chapters at Metrotown for me!  Although I usually eat in so I don't have to waste all those containers.  I haven't tried taking my own there, yet.

I could eat sushi everyday! nom nom nom.  My picks are Yamatao (downtown), Sushiyama (Broadway), or Fujiya (Clark).  All tasty and cheap!

I've heard great things about Sushi Mart! But I have yet to try it! That's a must do the next time I'm on Robson.

@ Colene - I used to go to Fujiya all the time. However, all the little Japanese snacks in there are pretty distracting! Thanks for re-introducing this! I've totally neglected it.

@ Kat - I'm usually at Sushi Garden on Kingsway. Maybe I'll switch it up for some Asakusa instead!

@ Catherine - New West! I don't doubt there's great sushi there and now I know where!

@ Tania - Give it a try!  Not as crazy busy and the prices are better.  The quality is great, too.  The Mexico Roll kicks ass and the gomae is very good.  Their spicy sauce for their rolls is handmade and really nice.  I find Sushi Garden too spicy.

My neighbourhood takeout sushi place is Ogenki Sushi on Main and 28th. Always fresh and yummy! I put in another vote for Sushi Mart too!

I just revisited a forgotten favourite last night - Sushi California in Coquitlam (across the road from Lougheed Mall). Fast service, fresh fish and big rolls. My tummy so happy.

I love that place, too, Christine!  The tuna gomae is the best deal.

Wow another point for Sushi Mart. I think we're all going to have to take a trip down there with our sushi carts and fill em up at the Sushi Mart! (Too corny??)

@ Kat - Mexico Roll?? Sounds tropical!

I love how different sushi places have and make up all these unique and creative rolls! What else is out there??

My neighbourhood go to place is Riz Sushi! (yelp.ca/biz/riz-sushi-ba…)
They've got the best spider roll there! And the salmon sashimi is good too. I actually just had take-out from there for yesterday's dinner!

@ Tania - A Mexico Roll is a spicy tuna roll with avocado!  Yum!

I just heard that Yummy-To-Go on Davie St. at English Bay has really yummy sushi for cheap prices. And it's good for take out too!!

    Anyone been here??
