All gas stations in Coquitlam are Full serve, so I don't have a choice.  But are you supposed to tip them? I'm always unsure... I usually don't have change, just gas money. I come from a Cold Northern Town and you tip on full serve, but that's because you have the choice and their pumping in -20 or -30  below for you.

    Hi Bears,

I like the general response from this site.

    travel.stackexchange.com…

They make a good point.  Tip if they go out of your way to help you or if you can afford it.

    Good luck to you.

No. Maybe if you make them wash your windows but generally no.

  1. It's been ages since I've come across a full serve station, but it always consisted of a window wash and a windshield/antifreeze level check, no?

The odd time I stop at a full serve gas station in Coquitlam, they're standing around and talking and I fill up my car.  Maybe they should fucking pay me their wages.

PetroCan at Blue Mt and Austin....they seem a little useless...went in there, only 2 other cars there at the time...no one ever came to help...went inside to pre pay so I could pump, no one in there either....remember the bylaw was there for students to have jobs, and now it is just immigrant's who don't speak English or don't even bother to help.  Will never go back to the PetroCan, I would rather take my chances and drive up
to the one of the Esso's who still hire students and your get prompt service.

Lol actually so true. At least half the time I get out of my car to put the pump away and grab my reciept cause they slow. But full service is sweet if you have a baby or live in -30...which I have neither so I'll guess Ill stick to my speedy self serve

  2. The entire concept of Full Service at gas stations makes me uncomfortable and I tip because it feels like you should.  You also cannot pump your own gas in Richmond, BC or the entire state of Oregon.

@ Bears, same but this guy who fills my gas gives me the works as well as others so he is going above and beyond his call of duty. He is also filling gas in a small hood where everyone knows everyone.

You can deny full service. They never tell you you can't pump your own gas.
