    Hi,

I've moved from Vancouver and there should be quite a few new restaurants that have opened up since I left.

We'll be in town for just a few days during the Olympics and will be doing a belated Valentine dinner sometime later next week.

Can you suggest some restaurants where we can make a reservation?

Are there better options beside Boathouse?  Looking to spend $50-$80 pp not including alc.

We're in our 30s, have some cash to spend, Mommy and Daddy get a date night alone, maybe a little dressed up, hopefully a restaurant for the 30 plus crowd (no frat boys and girls), lively atmosphere is a must!  Silence is too contrived.

    Thanks, guys!

There aren't any "Ruth's Chris" or "Morton's" style steakhouses in Richmond, but there is "Carver's."  I've never been, but I've heard good things -

After that, really your only other option is The Keg -

...with a salad, steak & seafood, side & dessert, it's not hard to get to $50 pp at the Keg.

Gotham Steakhouse or Hy's are two of the top steakhouses here.  I would take Gotham over Hy's but that's just my taste.

@Christine - Neither Gotham nor Hy's are in Richmond...

There is the Keg.  But that's about it.  Or you could try a Hong Kong Cafe (if you dare sine they can be a hit and miss).  They'll have a meat lovers platter that's almost like AYCE for cheap cheap.  But then again.  It's just not the same. :(

You know.  Try the Keg.  It's theclosest thing to what you are looking for.  Good luck!  Have fun in the Olympics!!

Thanks for trying, guys!  I know Richmond isn't exactly a traditional American restaurant mecca.

Nice one on the HK cafes! Haha, definitely not the mood we're going for.  =P

I will need to be in town to see how lame traffic is before we make the trek downtown.  So if it's not too bad we'll be much happier with the choices downtown.  Who likes to spend more time sitting in traffic than enjoying a nice dinner, right?

Richmond Boathouse, Keg, Carver's...hmm...fingers crossed for an under-40 minute drive downtown on a weeknight next week!

    Gracias.

@Geoff - Oh, I guess I should have read the title of the post past "restaurant".  I couldn't figure out why you were saying Richmond in yours either!  :-)

You can take the Canada Line train from Richmond to downtown and not have to sit in traffic (it's 25mins each way) and enjoy a glass or three of vino! - BONUS.
Yes, there's the Keg and there's also a Brown's Social House @ IronBridge (?) Ironwood (Stevenston & No.5 rd) which is also a decent option (all criteria considered).
