My friends and I will be visiting Vancouver for 4 days at the end of July. I would love any recommendations on things to do/see/eat. Money is not an issue and there are no vegetarian requirements. We have a car to get around. So far on our itinerary we plan to explore the different neighborhoods of downtown (Gas town, Granville, Yaletown), visit Stanley Park & Queen Elizabeth park, go see Lynn Canyon & Capilano Suspension Bridge, and spend a full day on Victoria Island. Looking for more suggestions by locals on what we should not miss. Thank you.

Hey Wendy! You've definitely hit the mains, but I'd like to add to definitely check out the beaches, Kits beach/Spanish banks, etc and if you want to go shopping check out Robson Street.

There's also a thread here that can help: yelp.com/topic/vancouver…

If you can, venture out to the suburbs such a historic Fort Langley where there is a collection of good eateries, shops and the old museum

Speaking of museums, the Museum of Anthropology at the University of BC is another one to check out.

    Steveston is another must see

When you're up to see Capilano Suspension Bridge in North Vancouver, I highly recommend a short drive up the road a little further and a trip up Grouse Mountain with the Sky Ride.  There are activities at the top of the mountain and also a spectacular view of the city and beyond.  If you're a fitness type gal and really fit, you can hike to the top of the mountain on the gruelling "Grouse Grind" hike...

i love the night market(s) in richmond.

  1. How about doing a whale watching tour? Also, check out La Casa Gelato. Yes,  there may be better places for cold treats, but no where else will you be able to find all sorts of different flavors such as curry or jackfruit mango!

  2. If you're renting a car, Budget gives you coupons for free admission to various attractions like the zoo and aquarium.

  3. Echoing what Kelly said about Grouse, if you go up there for dinner at the fancier of the two restaurants and make a reservation, your skyride is free! That alone saves you $50/person.

Go bungee jumping.  It's in Whistler.  It may cost a bundle but it's worth it.

July 30 is the Vancouver Street Dance Festival. It's a free even in Downtown at Robson Square. There's performances, dance battles, and it's all ages.

If you haven't done so already, make sure you have a reservation - The July 30th long weekend is the busiest of the year.

    Gay pride, fireworks, cruise ships...

  4. Go to Queen Elizabeth Park walk for a bit, visit Bloedel Conservatory and eat at Season At The Park. That restaurant is really nice it's in the QE Park. Also try Japanese food at restaurants such as Kingyo, Guu, Santouka Ramen and Sura in downtown. Have a bubble tea at Chatime or Bubble World and you can also go to Kits Beach or English Bay.

  5. Yes, the Bloedel Conservatory!  A must see.  I just finished writing a review about it.  Also, if you like gardens, Van Dusen Garden.  A quick walk from the conservatory.

Skip Capilano Suspension Bridge (tourist trap) and check out the suspension bridge at Lynn Canyon.

If you want an interesting sushi experience, check out Sushi Bar Maumi (read some reviews to see how it's done, it's different than other local places).  Then there's Masayoshi, I recommend doing the omakase and give yourself 2-3 hours to really enjoy the experience.

Beta5 for their amazing cream puffs.

You gotta try dim sum in Vancouver too!  Dynasty.. Red Star..

Here's something a little less touristy.  The Catfe.  Get reservations.
