A cozy East Village wine bar, with a friendly staff, specializing in pasta with tasty vegan cream-based sauces.
Start your meal with the focaccia, then dive in with the tasting menu where you can try six pastas with a bottle of wine for $75pp. It's hard enough to choose one of the six on its own but with the addition of the wine bottle (up to a $60 value), the pasta tasting is the way to go. It includes:
- Bucatini arrabbiata
- Cappelletti with morels
- Gigli on truffle cream sauce
- Fiochetti with corn and maitake mushrooms
- Ravioli with chanterelles
- Tagliatelle with broccoli rabe
Two pastas come at a time which are meant to be shared. The menu showcases different preparations of various mushrooms. And if you love truffle, like I do, two of the dishes were truffle-forward.
Save room for dessert--the date cake cuts through the creamy sauces ending you on a high. Located just across Tompkins Square Park, the Soda Club is a perfect spot for a date night.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 851923488 lug 2024
This place has been in my list since long. Another gem from Overthrow Hospitality!! Great Italian vegan place.
We started with Arancini and glass of rose and cider. A couple of people have mentioned it is spicy but nope - it is not spicy. Great flavor. I just wished there could be some more sauce with it.
For main course we ordered Gigli and Ravioli.
Gigli is so amazing - given it has so less components but it still tastes great. The fried leek on top is a perfect addition. What a great pasta with so minimal ingredients.
Ravioli is MUST have. Period! It is creamy, has the right amount of balance of everything. The ricotta filing is quite fresh. And it has some lemony flavor which brings out such a freshness to the dish.
And we ended with much talked about Date cake and OMG what a great way to end the dinner. It is so yum, especially they used a bit of salt in the cake which cuts the over sweetness of this dessert. And the crumbly bed adds a crunch!
The service was great. Ambiance is cozy.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 17 mag 2024
Soda Club has possibly the best vegan food i've had. The fact that both every pasta is vegan and also every pasta is phenomenal is astounding.
We did the pasta tasting with a party of 3 and it was the perfect amount of food, and a great way to taste each pasta. There were just no bad options.
The ambiance was lovely and modern, very standard in vogue chic. Service was fine, they were busy and there were only 2 staff doing every role, so can't expect much more. would definitely recommend.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - 19 feb 2024
Natural wines and vegan food that you'd never know were vegan.
Staff was knowledgeable and helped me choose wines to pair with our food.
The space is dark and stylish, but the service is warm and friendly.
Food was excellent. We didn't have the appetite for the tasting menu so we got two pasta dishes to share. Each was delicious, and the pasta texture was toothsome despite not having egg. I love mushrooms, so I made sure to choose dishes that had them.
We got a salad as well and we're happy with that as well.
I'd return next time I'm in NY, even with so many other choices to try.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 3Oh no 0 - 1374925 mar 2024
The food here was SO GOOD! I am completely dairy free but I went with my boyfriend who eats diary. He and I both were extremely impressed with the food. The dairy substitutes were spot on. All the flavors overall were just well rounded and so good. We got 2 apps, 2 entrees, and 1 desert. We left extremely happily full.
Additionally, the server was fantastic! He was so helpful in picking out drinks as well as giving any taste recommendations on the food.
The ambiance is very pretty and was excellent for a date but i would go with a friend as well.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - 17 mag 2024
This is the place to be for great food and a great vibe. I came with friends and ordered the focaccia, ravioli, gigli, and date cake and everything was delicious! One of my favorite vegan spots in NY! The staff is great too, especially Hamat. He was attentive, helpful, kind. A rare find in the service industry.

as someone who's lactose intolerant, cheese substitutions rarely hit the same as the real thing. i was pleasantly surprised at how delicious the whipped ricotta and other cheese in the salad were!
the gigli pasta with fried leeks was a table favorite as well. i highly recommend the passion lavender soda as well!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 55512131 mag 2024

Vibes: bustling Italian pasta and wine bar with heated and covered outdoor patio seating
Tasting notes:
- bucatini: surprisingly spicy and welcomingly crunchy; rich tomato flavor
- cappaletti: great for mushroom lovers; enjoyed the savory broth
- manicotti: pleasantly crispy; good ratio of filling to pasta wrapping
- gigli: fantastically creamy with generous truffle flavor; appreciated the caramelized crisp leeks; pasta was perfectly cooked
- cannoli: two on the plate; delightful shell with creamy, fluffy interior
Other thoughts:
- comfortable in a jacket in the outdoor seating, fairly quiet
- pretty quick service
- six pasta tasting was a lot for two hungry people, and they graciously packed the last two for us
Impression: great place for a wine and pasta night, vegan or not!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 23 dic 2023
Date night here was such a fun time. The pasta tasting was a unique experience: 6 different pastas, all so unique in presentation and flavor profiles. I didn't even know til later - since my fiance was the one who picked this spot - that all of the pastas were fully vegan! Just goes to show that vegan food can be so versatile. My favorite was the pasta with the fried leaks! But they were all so tasty. Our server was so nice as well, gave us a wine recommendation that we loved based on our preferences. Such a fun and romantic time!
