How are we feeling folks? Good? Bad? Ready to cheer? Ready to crawl into a blanket fort where you will live out the rest of your days? Well, I have great news for you: Sing Street just snuck onto Netflix and it’s the perfect film to watch tonight.

Sing Street is the latest film from John Carney, he of Once and Begin Again fame. Like his previous films, Sing Street is a beautiful ode to the power of love and music. Sing Street takes place in ’80s Dublin and follows an awkward teen boy, Conor (Ferdia Walsh-Peelo), who gets in over his head when he tries to impress a gorgeous teen model named Raphina (Lucy Boynton). Conor tells her that he’s in a band and she should totally be in his music video. The problem? There is no band. Aidan “Littlefinger” Gillen plays Conor’s sarcastic dad and up-and-comer Jack Reynor his “a bit too supportive” older brother.

Sing Street is chock full of amazing ’80s fashion and comes with a kicking New Wave soundtrack. The movie has a simple charm, an earnest exuberance, and is guaranteed to help deal with…well, whatever it is you might be dealing with today. (Also: the soundtrack is awesome.)
