I want to enroll a new student for the 2024-25 school year

New students can enroll into any SFUSD school that has an open seat and no Spring Transfer requests. Enroll your student today by speaking with an Enrollment Counselor in the office.

New applicants must gather their required documents before enrolling. Complete the application for new students either online (sfusd.edu/onlineapp) or in an Enrollment Center office.

IMPORTANT: Ruth Asawa School of the Arts (SOTA) and Lowell High School have different application processes and deadlines. The deadline to apply to Lowell High School General Education, or to Ruth Asawa SOTA for 2024-25 has passed, and those schools are not available for current year enrollment.

My student is currently in an SFUSD school, but we wish to transfer

Students who are enrolled in SFUSD can submit a Spring Transfer application, to request a January transfer to one different school. There are no school transfers permitted during the Fall semester.

Visit sfusd.edu/springtransfer for more information, and complete the online or PDF application to apply. The Spring Transfer application deadline is November 8, 2024.

Application Forms

To apply for the first time, you can apply online using the online application at sfusd.edu/onlineapp

Or, you can complete the full application and submit it in-person or over email to [email protected]: English | Español | 中文 | Tagalog | العربيTiếng ViệtGagana Sāmoa

Required Documents

All new applicants need to submit required documents. Please gather these documents and have them ready when filling out your application.

Language Assessment

For admission to most SFUSD language programs, SFUSD conducts language assessments to evaluate the applicant's proficiency in the program language. Depending on the program you're applying to, your student may need to pass a language assessment in order to be eligible. For dual immersion programs, applicants do not need to be proficient in the language in order to apply. However, applicants who pass the language assessment typically have an easier time getting into the program, because some seats are reserved for native speakers.

If your student is proficient in the program language, you should contact the Enrollment Center when you submit the application to confirm whether your student needs to complete a language assessment.
