Upcoming activities

First light instruments have been designed to exploit the survey capabilities of the OAJ telescopes. In particular, two wide field cameras have been developed for the JAST80 and the JST250. The camera of JST250 is one of the largest astronomical cameras in the world.

Observatory

The Observatorio Astrofísico de Javalambre (OAJ) is an astronomical facility located at the Sierra de Javalambre (Teruel), in particular at El Pico del Buitre, 1957 meters above the sea level, close to the village Arcos de las Salinas.

Projects

The two first main projects defined to be conducted at the OAJ are J-PLUS (Javalambre Photometric Local Universe Survey) and J-PAS (Javalambre Physics of the Accelerating Universe Astrophysical Survey). J-PLUS and J-PAS are unprecedented photometric sky surveys of several thousands of square degrees visible from Javalambre.

Galáctica
GALÁCTICA is a Centre for Astronomy, Education and Outreach sponsored by CEFCA located in the village of Arcos de las Salinas. It has three telescopes dedicated to sky observing for the general public, as well as multiple facilities for carrying out astronomical activities.
