Cate Blanchett is in talks to star in Richard Linklater’s adaptation of Where’d You Go, Bernadette, Maria Semple’s best-selling 2012 novel, EW has confirmed.

The book follows the search for Bernadette, an eccentric mother who goes missing right before she’s supposed to lead her family on a trip to Antarctica in celebration of her 15-year-old daughter’s middle-school graduation.

This would mark the first time Blanchett, who currently stars in Truth and is already receiving Oscar buzz for the upcoming Carol, has worked with Linklater. While he’s attached to direct, Michael H. Weber and Scott Neustadter — who’ve collaborated before on multiple films including (500) Days of Summer and The Spectacular Now — are set to write the screenplay.
