Yolanda Foster Files for Divorce from David Foster

Yolanda Foster has officially filed for divorce from David Foster, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, who turned 52 Monday, and the Grammy winner, 66, announced they were separating after four years of marriage and nine years together in December.

The documents, filed Monday in Los Angeles, cite “irreconcilable differences” in the split and say the couple separated in November. Yolanda is seeking spousal support and legal fees from David.

“Sadly we have decided to go our separate ways,” the couple told PEOPLE in an exclusive statement announcing their split in December. “We’ve shared nine beautiful and joyous years together. During that time we experienced love, friendship and the inevitable challenges that come with managing a marriage, careers, blended families and health issues.”

[IMAGE “1” “” “std” ]It has been a challenging few years for Yolanda, who has been battling Lyme disease. She has spoken positively of David since their split, calling him a source of support through her health struggles.

“We had a beautiful love story that I will treasure forever. Unfortunately it was not strong enough to withstand the circumstances that came our way,” Yolanda said in December when she called in to Watch What Happens Live. “The truth is that we both worked through the difficult time through the best of our ability, so rather than judging what went wrong, I pick to honor the great times that we shed the last nine years. There were a wealth of good times.”

David has praised Yolanda as being brave for facing her struggles.

“I have always had and continue to have the utmost respect and love for Yolanda, which is why it is so frustrating to see headlines questioning her chronic debilitating illness,” David told PEOPLE in an exclusive statement in December.

The pair were wed on Nov. 11, 2011. Yolanda was previously married to Mohamed Hadid from 1994 2000. She and Hadid are parents to three children together: Gigi, 20, Bella, 19, and son Anwar, 16.

David has been married four times and is father to five daughters from previous relationships.
