Syrian Interior Minister in Beirut Hospital
Syrian Interior Minister Mohamad al-Shaar admitted on Wednesday to hospital in Beirut after he was injured in an explosion that targeted the ministry last week.
National News Agency (NNA) quoted a doctor who was responsible for Shaar’s treatment that the Syrian minister’s condition was stable, adding “he suffered burns.”
The doctor assured Shaar will not undergo surgery, saying he needs medical observation.”
Meanwhile, a Lebanese minister Agence France Presse (AFP) arrived at 7:30 pm (1630 GMT) at Beirut airport, and he was taken to the American University Hospital (AUH).
“His condition is stable and he was able to talk to the people who received him at the airport. I don’t know how long he will stay here,” the minister said.
Al-Nusra Front claimed responsibility for the attack that targeted the Syrian interior ministry last week.
Shaar was injured during the attack, which killed nine people.
Shaar narrowly escaped being killed in a spectacular July 18 bombing that targeted the National Security building last July, killing four top security officials, including the defense minister and the brother-in-law of President Bashar Assad.
