Social Protection Fund beneficiaries, November 2022.
The 2014 Ethiopian National Social Protection Policy included the establishment of a Social Protection Fund, as well as the adoption of a subsequent social protection strategy and national action plan.
To assess the current design for the Social Protection Fund and to determine its effectiveness in meeting the SPF goals as stated in the draft SPF Proclamation and other official documents, the SP-PFM project supported the Ministry of Women and Social Affairs in conducting an independent technical feasibility assessment of the Social Protection Fund.
The feasibility assessment considered possible changes to the design which might enhance its effectiveness and improve its prospects for long term success. It also assessed the potential added value of the mechanism and provided options related to setting up and managing such a fund.
