The 1980s brought about a whole new class of submarines to the UK Royal Navy. The Trafalgar Class consisted of 7 submarines and started to come into service from 1983. Of course, powered by Rolls-Royce technology, they gained the reputation of being exceptionally quiet on operation. Our mtu gas engines are part of the innovative hybrid systems powering the world’s first liquified natural gas tugboat in Singapore. The boat designed, built and operated by Seatrium uses two 16-cylinder mtu Series 4000M55RN gas engines and a gas regulating unit (GRU). “We are proud that we were able to contribute to Seatrium’s innovative project with our gas engines. The workboat market is one of our strategic business areas.
