DownloadThe hay-making process can be divided into three stages: mower to paddock, bales in the paddock and transport out of the paddock. Each stage must be focused on separately to ensure success. An important component in producing oaten hay is mitigating weather damage in the paddock to ensure high quality and maximise profit. Recently, the focus has shifted to optimising the feed test value of oaten hay. It is important that producers assess various environmental and management factors throughout these three stages to support best practice for today and into the future.
